Raiders NFL Draft Prospect: WR Johnny Wilson, FSU
USA TODAY Sports

Building a young foundation in the wide receiver room is a move that could greatly go in the Las Vegas Raiders' favor down the road.

Drafting a highly-regarded wide receiver prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft would be a good start. Drafting one who knows the coach would be even better.

Wide receiver Johnny Wilson is known for his two years at Florida State, but he began his collegiate career at Arizona State during the years that Las Vegas Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce held his role of associate head coach. Pierce was also the Sun Devils' Co-Defensive Coordinator in 2020 before being promoted to the sole Defensive Coordinator position in 2021.

Wilson recorded 243 receiving yards and a touchdown while making three starts in eight games for Arizona State. He then transferred to Florida State, where his career took off.

In his first season with the program (2022), Wilson posted 879 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns while starting all 13 games. His 20.86 yards per catch ranked him fifth in the nation.

Wilson would be named a second-team All-ACC honoree for the 2022 season.

This past season, Wilson helped lead the Seminoles to an ACC title and a 13-win season.

Wilson finished the season with 617 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns while averaging 15.0 yards per catch. He played just 10 games, having missed the majority of the second half of the season due to injuries.

Wilson would still be named to the All-ACC Third Team.

The prospect ranked as the No. 6 high school player out of California by ESPN.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
