Report: Jemele Hill set to leave ESPN

One of ESPN’s more recognizable faces will soon no longer be at the network.

Jemele Hill and ESPN have reached agreement on a buyout that will begin on Sept. 1, according to reporter Jim Miller.

Miller says that Hill approached ESPN management about the matter.

The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch adds that Hill has a production company that will take up part of her time moving forward.

As first reported by @JimMiller, @jemelehill is leaving ESPN. She approached management. Hill and @KelleyLCarter have a production company — Lodge Freeway Media — so that will be part of her post-ESPN world. She leaves ESPN in September after wrapping up some stuff.

Since joining ESPN in 2006, Hill has been featured by the network in various roles. She is an extremely talented writer. Hill has also appeared on-air in numerous capacities from TV host to panelist.

Hill recently hosted “SportsCenter” with Michael Smith before reportedly asking management for a change. She then began writing for one of ESPN’s newer projects, “The Undefeated.”

During her time at ESPN, Hill became known for her involvement in social media interactions. She has gotten into with Dez Bryant. She also infamously became a part of a political controversy after criticizing Donald Trump on Twitter. Her comments about the president drew a response from Donald Trump and created a political problem for the network.

Hill has been a lightning rod during her time at ESPN. However, there is no doubt she has also had a profound impact on the network during her tenure that will be hard to replace.
