Texas, Oklahoma earn top seeds in NCAA softball bracket

Texas received the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship when the selection committee revealed its 64-team field on Sunday.

Right behind Texas (47-7) is rival Oklahoma, the three-time reigning champion, as the No. 2 seed. The Sooners (49-6) beat the Longhorns 5-1 in the Big 12 championship game Saturday to conclude both teams' final season in the conference.

Texas and Oklahoma will host two of the 16 four-team regionals beginning Friday. The 16 winners will play in the super regionals between May 23-26, leaving eight teams to advance to the Women's College World Series.

Texas will face Siena in its first game in the regional in Austin, Texas. Northwestern and Saint Francis (PA) were also sent to Austin. Oklahoma opens against Cleveland State, with Oregon and Boston University also heading to Norman, Okla.

The rest of the first-round matchups are as follows:

Knoxville Regional: No. 3 seed Tennessee vs. Dayton; Virginia vs. Miami (Ohio)

Gainesville Regional: No. 4 seed Florida vs. Florida Gulf Coast; South Alabama vs. Florida Atlantic

Stillwater Regional: No. 5 seed Oklahoma State vs. Northern Colorado; Kentucky vs. Michigan

Los Angeles Regional: No. 6 seed UCLA vs. Grand Canyon; Virginia Tech vs. San Diego State

Columbia Regional: No. 7 seed Missouri vs. Omaha; Washington vs. Indiana

Stanford Regional: No. 8 seed Stanford vs. Saint Mary's; Mississippi State vs. Cal State Fullerton

Baton Rouge Regional: No. 9 seed LSU vs. Jackson State; Cal vs. Southern Illinois

Durham Regional: No. 10 seed Duke vs. Morgan State; South Carolina vs. Utah

Athens Regional: No. 11 seed Georgia vs. UNC Wilmington; Charlotte vs. Liberty

Fayetteville Regional: No. 12 seed Arkansas vs. Southeast Missouri State; Arizona vs. Villanova

Lafayette Regional: No. 13 seed Louisiana vs. Princeton; Baylor vs. Ole Miss

Tuscaloosa Regional: No. 14 seed Alabama vs. South Carolina Upstate; Clemson vs. Southeastern Louisiana

Tallahassee Regional: No. 15 seed Florida State vs. Chattanooga; Auburn vs. UCF

Bryan-College Station Regional: No. 16 seed Texas A&M vs. Albany; Texas State vs. Penn State
