At least 15 members of LIV Golf receive invite to 2023 Masters

The Masters announced on Tuesday that any golfer who has qualified for the major based on its previous criteria will be invited to compete in the 2023 event in April.

The news was announced by tournament chairman Fred Ridley. This means that a significant number of current members of LIV Golf will be part of the field.

ESPN's Mark Schlabach reported Tuesday that 16 members of LIV Golf will be invited to next year's Masters. Among the athletes who defected from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf and are invited include six previous Masters champions: Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed and Charl Schwartzel.

The other 10 named in Schlabach's report are 2022 Open Championship winner Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Joaquin Niemann, Talor Gooch, Abraham Ancer, Harold Varner III, Jason Kokrak, Kevin Na and Louis Oosthuizen.

The 2023 Masters will be the first major next season and is scheduled to take place from April 6 to April 9. PGA Tour member Scottie Scheffler won the 2022 Masters in April for his first major championship.
