This week's stop on the European PGA Tour is the BMW International Open from Cologne, Germany. This tournament has been held since 1989, with its inaugural champion, David Feherty. Since then, a number of prominent golfers have claimed the title such as Paul Azinger, Colin Montgomery and Miguel Angel Jimenez. But it wasn't until 2008 that the first German born player hoisted the winner's trophy when Martin Kaymer claimed the title. This tournament traditionally boasts a stellar field and tough conditions with last year's event a prime example of the fierce competition that can be expected. The race for the title came down to two Spaniards, Pablo Larrazabal and Sergio Garcia. The regulation 72-holes weren't enough to determine a winner and the sudden death extended to five holes. Both players produced incredible shots as they matched birdies on two trips to the 18th before playing two par threes. The fifth playoff hole was back on the 18th, where Larrazabal eventually prevailed. Both men ended up happy with the results as both qualified for The Open, keeping Garcia's streak of consecutive majors since 1999 alive. Tune in for four-round coverage as the Race to Dubai continues all season long on FOX Sports.
