Kevin Na has a pre-shot routine longer than a “Godfather” movie, but far less entertaining. The 28-year-old golfer, who leads The Players Championship through three rounds, recognizes how ridiculous his routine is and apologizes for it. “There’s so much on the line that I just have to sometimes back off,” Na told the media on Saturday. “Or I’ll force myself to take it back, and on the way down I’ll pull up and go over the top (of the ball). As ugly as it is, and as painful as it is, believe me, it’s really tough for me. And I’m trying. “Trust me, I get ripped a lot,” he said. “I know TV, Twitter and fans are tired of me backing off. I understand people being frustrated with me backing off, but all I can tell you guys is honestly, I’m trying. And it’s hard for me, too.” Na was on the clock throughout the back nine because his routine was taking so long, and he was even given a bad time on the 16th hole. He says the lengthy routine is due to a swing change. Some golfers, like G

Na battles mind games, demons at TPC

That golf is a game that demands controlling dark inner demons as much as a little white ball has never been truer than it was in watching Kevin Na take the third-round lead at The Players on Saturday. To put it mildly, it's painful watching Na play golf. Fingernails-down-a-chalkboard annoying. In baseball, balks are penalized. But in golf it's merely bad etiquette for...

Kevin Na hit a shot so amazing on Sunday that it forced an announcer to drop a s-bomb

Kevin Na took time out from playing slow and being heckled and booed during his meltdown on Sunday to hit an amazing approach shot on the 18th hole. Na, whose prior shot was so badly placed that he decided to drop on the golf cart, calmly took his shot and put the ball on the green. The shot was so amazing that an announcer couldn’t contain himself from dropping a s-bomb. H/T SBNation

Na heckled at Players, slides down leaderboard

Kevin Na was booed, taunted and heckled on nearly every hole. The 28-year-old South Korean native even had one spectator tell him he ''better not choke'' because he had money riding on him. Na dealt with it best he could, and even though he felt rushed at times, he never chastised fans at The Players Championship for his Sunday slide in the final round. He blamed...

NBC's Johnny Miller drops an 's-bomb' following a Na shot

40 second mark. Johnny Miller drops an 's-bomb' following Kevin Na's shot on 18 at the Player's Championship. Johnny was probably just shocked that Na hit the damn ball. Every time you check... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

NBC airs swearing live

Kevin Na was bothering people all weekend with his tick, but this was the shot of the day, and it drew out a little cussing on air by an NBC commentator. Oops. Oh well. H/T Business Insider

Na's demons may have gotten best of him

Matt Kuchar may be the Jimmy Stewart of golf, but beneath the perpetual smiles and aw-shucks disposition lays a steely competitor. Just how tough was demonstrated on Sunday, when he overcome not just the usual barriers standing in the way to one of the game's biggest prizes, The Players, but Kevin Na, too. Na, as the world has come to discover -- to its horror -- over the past...

Matt Kuchar wins 2012 Players Championship

Matt Kuchar won the 2012 Players Championship with a final round of 70 and finished 13-under for the tournament. Kuchar was confident and consistent throughout the tournament at the TPC at Sawgrass golf course.  This is his fourth career win and the first in two years. Kevin Na who led the tournament going into the final round struggled on Sunday shooting a 76 to end up seventh...

Kuchar nabs first win in two years

The only complaint about Matt Kuchar was not winning enough. He picked up a big one Sunday in The Players Championship. Kuchar avoided the big mistakes that slowed so many other contenders - starting with Kevin Na - and kept out of the water on the TPC Sawgrass at the end. He closed with a 2-under 70 for a two-shot victory. It was the fourth career win for Kuchar, and his first...

Hit the ball already!

If you caught any of The Players this past weekend, you no doubt saw and heard the brouhaha regarding how long it took for Kevin Na to hit a golf shot. One of the biggest problems the PGA Tour faces in terms of how attractive their televised product is, is in regards to slow play. While this [...]

Tiger Woods bounces back at Sawgrass

Tiger Woods on Friday played like a man who wasn't going to miss consecutive cuts for the first time in his professional career. World No. 1 Rory McIlroy played like a man who's still dazed and confused when it comes to architect Pete Dye's idiosyncratic TPC Sawgrass layout. McIlroy has yet to play the weekend in three trips to The Players and left scratching his head...

Video: Matt Kuchar Wins Players Championship

The game of golf is all about consistency. The more consistent a PGA Tour player can hit the ball, the more he’s going to be able to score in the red and keep himself in contention on Sunday’s during the major tournaments. That’s exactly what Matt Kuchar was able to do by shooting 68-68-69-70 during the 2012 Players Championship. By the time he was done swinging on Sunday,...

Tiger breaks shoe and ends streak of rounds in 70s

Television cameras and thousands of eyeballs focused on Tiger Woods' right foot as he made his way up the sixth fairway. No worries, though. It was just a broken shoe. Woods snapped the eyelet during his tee shot at the par-4 No. 5, called for a backup shoe and made a quick swap following his approach shot on the next hole. He found some rhythm a few minutes later, enough to...

Kuchar, Johnson, Na share Players lead

Local residents Matt Kuchar and Zach Johnson shared the lead with Kevin Na after Friday's second round of The Players Championship, while Tiger Woods played himself into contention.
