There are few, if any golf cliches that are more tried and true than “play as it lies.” PGA Tour golfer Matt Every became the latest to prove that playing to that adage cane sometimes work out.
Every turned in a shot of the year candidate on Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. His tee shot found some trouble on the par-4 third hole, and that left Every with an interesting to decision to make. The ball had come to rest on the “shores” of a pond on the course, and he decided to play it as it lie.
Every left his shoes on and got a little dirty as he decided to take a hack at the ball that was still somewhat playable. That turned out to be a very good decision. He ended up holing out the 124-yard shot for eagle.
See the gutsy play in the video below (there may or may not be some inaudible swearing at some point during the video).
Golf clap to The Big Lead for this one.

I watched this commercial prior to having any cups of coffee, so please excuse me as it hasn’t fully processed yet. I do believe I just watched Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods starring in a commercial for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 fighting a bunch of folks and Lee Trevino showing up in time for a groin finisher. If the Internet doesn’t break in some form or another over this I...
This is easily the most bizarre thing that I have ever seen in a golf tournament. At #10 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Sergio Garcia hit his drive and his ball got stuck in a tree. Rather than take a penalty for an unplayable ball, Garcia climbed up into the tree to try and hit a shot.
When he got up there, he actually hit an incredible shot. To turn your club backwards...
Unlike most people you’ve seen climbing trees on golf courses, Sergio Garcia has not taken any LSD or finished an…

This is probably the most athleticism you’ll see out of a golfer.

Sergio Garcia made one of the wildest golf shots we have seen, and it took place during the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational Sunday.
Garcia’s tee shot on the 10th hole ended up in a tree, so he climbed the tree to locate the ball which was stuck between branches. He grabbed hold of a branch to his left and backhanded a shot that knocked the ball back onto the fairway...
Yep, it’s certain. I’ve seen it all. This morning at the Arnold Palmer Invitational Sergio Garcia landed his ball in a tree, AND PLAYED IT WHERE IT LIED!!! Move over Mickelson, this is flying to the top of the list of amazing oddball golf shots. Good play, Sergio!
He needs a tree iron.

In the annals of golf history, I don't think we've seen a shot like that one that PGA tour pro Sergio Garcia pulled off in the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
After the first shot on the 10th hole, Sergio's ball got stuck in a tree near the fairway and instead of taking a penalty, Garcia decided to take his second shot backwards while straddling a couple...
Woods and fellow legend Arnold Palmer team up for this EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour '14 commercial, which is probably one of the greatest spots ever put together.
Sergio Garcia might want to change his name to Tarzan.
Garcia provided an amazing highlight Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational when he climbed some 15 feet into an oak tree and played a shot back out to the fairway.
The Spaniard already was having a rough time at Bay Hill -- he made a 9 on the par-5 sixth hole -- when his tee shot at No. 10 sailed right into the trees. Not...
The ad wizards over at EA Sports have put together some classic commercials over the years but this latest one for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14" might take the cake as one of the best.
It features Tiger and legendary golfer Arnold Palmer as they do their best to hold out their Masters/U.S. Open trophies as they fight a group trying to take them away:
Who knew Arnold...
