This weekend marks the end of the PGA Tour season as 30 players vie for the FedEx Title in Atlanta. The Tour Championship is played at Eastlake GC and while it is easy to pull for the standard stars in Rory McIroy, Tiger Woods or Phil Mickleson, now is a good time to show that Northwest pride in putting your hopes behind Robert Garrigus. Eastlake is always a great opportunity for anyone, but a Garrigus triumph would provide a pleasant topping to his year. The 35-year-old Garrigus, who attended Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis and also won the 4A State Championship there, currently resides in 20th place in the chase for the FedEx Cup. Only those in the top five (McIlroy, Woods, Nick Watney, Mickelson and Brandt Snedeker) are assured the title with a win. Hence, if Garrigus should pull off the victory and being somewhat distant from the top to start the tournament, he would need some help to win the overall Cup points. Charles Barkley wasn't happy with the way Tiger Woods handled Greg Norman's criticism.

Tiger shares lead with Justin Rose

Tiger Woods sure didn't look intimated Thursday in the Tour Championship. Woods kept the ball in play at East Lake and chipped in for one of his six birdies on his way to a 4-under-par 66 that gave him a share of the lead with Justin Rose. It was the first step toward what Woods hopes is another FedEx Cup title, and another $10 million bonus. Rory McIlroy, playing with Woods...

Charles Barkley: I wish I could put some of my blackness in Tiger Woods

Earlier this week, golf legend Greg Norman said he believes one of Tiger Woods’ problems with not being able to close out big tournaments is that he is intimidated by Rory McIlroy. Tiger reacted the way you might expect — by making a joke about it and saying that you don’t have to be afraid of a guy like Ray Lewis popping you in golf because it’s an individual sport. Charles...

Woods, McIlroy meet again with more at stake

With every week, and every win, Rory McIlroy gets a new moniker. Two-time major champion. The world No. 1. Heir apparent. The latest nickname was courtesy of none other than Tiger Woods. He jokingly said Woods calls him ''The Intimidator.'' What triggered his one-liner at East Lake were comments by Greg Norman that Woods is intimidated by McIlroy. The 23-year-old...

Tiger downplays Norman's assessment

Predictably, Tiger Woods resorted to humor to defuse Greg Norman's bombshell assertion that he's "really intimidated" by Rory McIlroy. And neither did it serve McIlroy to weigh in too earnestly on what is a sensitive subject for a young man who's both growing closer to, and rapidly eclipsing, his boyhood idol. Woods was quick to greet golf's crown prince...

Greg Norman: Tiger Woods is intimidated by Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy is the best golfer in the world. Never has that been more evident than over the past couple of months, as McIlroy has dominated the sport and put himself in a prime position to win the FedEx Cup this weekend. One man who knows how it feels to own the game is Tiger Woods. McIlroy and Woods will once again be paired together on Thursday and Friday at the Tour Championship...

Charles Barkley Says He Wishes Tiger Woods Would 'Blast' Greg Norman, Channel Some of His 'Blackness'

It's not every day that Charles Barkley wishes Tiger Woods would be more like him. But, after former golf pro Greg Norman challenged Woods by saying that rising star Rory McIlroy was intimidating the living legend, Barkley is asking Woods to tap into his inner Sir Charles. "I would like for him to just blast Greg Norman," Barkley told the Waddle and Silvy radio show...
