Robert Rock was solid in his final round performance in the Abu Dhabi golf event this weekend, shooting a 2-under par 70. He eclipsed Tiger Woods by two strokes, who was co-leader through 54 holes. As some would say, Robert was as steady as a “Rock” on Sunday (clever pun).
Woods has been taking a hit from the media after his failure to win, despite having a share for the lead heading into the final round.
SportsCenter, The Golf Channel and various other media sources throw criticism at Tiger by saying “he has failed to convert his last 3 of 5 tournaments with a win when having/sharing the lead after 54 holes.” That is true, but maybe its time to lower the bar.
Everyone questions whether Tiger Woods will ever get it back, whatever “it” may be.
Are competitors scared of Tiger anymore? Probably not. His once invincible confidence on Sunday has disappeared, while the talent pool on tour continues to deepen.
