Tiger Woods best bets for PGA Championship

The PGA Championship tees off in less than 24 hours at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Below we will continue our PGA Tour odds series with Tiger Woods’ best bets for the PGA Championship.

Valhalla Golf Club is not an easy course, but Tiger Woods will be teeing it up this weekend. This will be his first event since the Masters, where he finished 60th. Woods seems to be in good health, and his practice rounds have gone well. Below I am going to give a few bets that I love for Tiger Woods.

Why Tiger Woods will make the cut at the PGA Championship

This one is simple. Tiger Woods is Tiger Woods. There is nobody like him. Even with his age and all his ailments, people still believe Tiger Woods can go out there and win the whole thing. Now, that is unlikely, but his Masters run in 2019 was just as unlikely. Nonetheless, he just has to make the cut for this bet to hit. Tiger last teed off at the Masters, and he was able to make that cut by shooting just one-over par through the first two round of the event. He struggled on the weekend, but making the cut is all that matters here.

Woods should be fresh and ready to go. The first round is going to be the easiest for him, but as the day goes on, and the rounds add up, it gets tougher for Tiger to walk the long course. Despite that, I think there is still a good chance he can make this cut if he shoots just a few strokes over par. I do not think the winner will shoot very low this weekend, so Tiger has a chance to not be at his best, but still make the cut.

Why Tiger Woods will score OVER 72.5 in round 1 at the PGA Championship

As mentioned, this is a long and tiring course, especially for professionals who have to walk it. It measures over 7,600 yards, and will play as a par-71. For this to hit, Tiger would have to shoot two-over par for the round. I think there is a good possibility of that. During his press conference on Tuesday, Woods expressed that he wish his game was a little sharper heading into this event. That tells me he is not striking the ball as well as he wants to. With the course playing long, and his already known ailments, Tiger could easily shoot a 73 or higher in round one at the PGA Championship.

Why Tiger Woods will record UNDER 3.5 birdies in round 1 at the PGA Championship

Woods played well at the Masters. In fact, he shot one-over par in the Thursday round, and even par on Friday. He averaged just two birdies per round at the Masters, and made just two in his opening round. Augusta was playing extremely tough that weekend, but this course will not be much easier. If Woods gets himself in trouble off the tee box, he is going to be fighting for par. With his drive distance down to 291.8 yards per drive, I do not see Tiger being in a lot of good birdie positions. He might shoot close to par, but I do not think he makes four birdies in his opening round.
