It wasn't his cleanest round of the tournament Sunday, but after going 1-under Tiger Woods was able to win the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral. He was 19 under for the tournament beating Steven Sticker by two strokes. However, the real victory was not in the win, but what it could signify. Ever since he returned from his break following the dreaded car crash that preceded the end to his marriage and a stay in rehab fans and analysts have been trying to predict the 'Return of Tiger,' but with no real success. Injuries and erratic play has hounded the former No. 1 ever since. With the win at Doral Sunday an argument could be made for that scenario no longer being the case. Tiger has five wins under his belt in his last 19 starts. He has done well enough when he doesn't win that (thanks to Sunday's win) should he win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in a couple weeks he will regain an old, familiar perch--the No. 1 rank in the world. ...

Tiger Woods ball gets stuck in a tree during Round 3 at Doral

During the 3rd round at The TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Tiger Woods hit a tee shot on number 17 that went directly into a palm tree and got stuck.  Obviously this shot didn’t end up hurting Tiger Woods as he cruised to his second victory of the year, finishing -19 at The WGC-Cadillac Championship. It was however, something that doesn’t happen very often.  Golf balls get lost...

Tiger Woods Gets Ball Stuck in Palm Tree on Way to WGC-Cadillac Championship Win (Video)

Tiger Woods‘ win in the WGC-Cadillac Championship was mostly a breeze. That is, until a palm tree got in the way. Woods pushed his tee shot just to the right of the fairway on the 17th hole in the third round at Doral, Fla., and his ball got lodged in a palm tree. Woods was on such a roll, he couldn’t even let the errant shot get in his way. The golfer was able to identify the...

Tiger Woods builds lead to 4 strokes at Doral

DORAL, Fla. (AP) -- Tiger Woods hit a tee shot that got stuck in a palm tree. That's about the only thing that went wrong for him Saturday in the Cadillac Championship. Woods made seven more birdies on the Blue Monster, the last one from 15 feet on the 18th hole for a 5-under 67. That gave him a four-shot lead over Graeme McDowell, and put Woods in great position to win a World...

Tiger Woods wins Cadillac Championship

DORAL, Fla. (AP) -- Tiger Woods is hitting his stride on his march to the Masters. Woods had full control of his game Sunday and never let anyone get closer than three shots until he had locked up his 17th World Golf Championship title. With a bogey that didn't matter on the final hole, he closed with a 1-under 71 to win the Cadillac Championship. One year ago at Doral, Woods...

Tiger up by 4 heading to final round

The day before the clocks go forward, Tiger Woods wound them back. For the third straight round on the Trump Doral Blue Monster, he played like it was 2000 again. After an impressive Saturday 67 stretched Woods' midway two-shot lead at the WGC-Cadillac Championship to four shots, I asked him if he felt his game now was as good as it was in the glory years. "I don'...

Tiger Woods’ Recaptured Dominance Shows Swing Changes, Not Mental State, Had Much More to Do With Extended Slump

Back in 2000, fiction author Troon McAllister penned a book called The Green, a fanciful story in which an amateur golf hustler leads the United States Ryder Cup team by showing the foo-foo professionals his cutthroat ways. The book contains a bunch of thinly veiled analogs for real-life players, including then-stars like Davis Love III and Colin Montgomerie. The book also has a...

Woods' win ramps up expectations

There is a fascination with numbers when it comes to Tiger Woods, a product of him winning so much over so many years. He now has 76 wins on the PGA Tour, six short of the record 82 by Sam Snead, and one more than Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh combined. His two-shot victory at Doral was his 17th in the World Golf Championships. No one else has won more than three. The Cadillac...

Tiger Woods looked like the Tiger of old on Sunday en route to a victory in the Cadillac Championship. The win at Doral was the 76th in Tiger’s career. It was also his fifth tournament win in his last 19 starts, which has many ready to accept the fact that Tiger may officially be back. What we saw on Sunday was vintage Woods, as Tiger held a comfortable lead for most of the afternoon...
