Watch: Ryan Fox sinks a hole-in-one on the iconic 17th hole at the Players Championship

We're not even halfway through the first round of the 2024 Players Championship, but we already have a hole-in-one on the famed island green.

Ryan Fox, the No. 44 Official World Golf Ranking player, stepped up to the tee box on the iconic par-3 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass and hit a beautiful wedge shot that landed a few yards beyond the pin. His ball landed softly and started rolling down the hill toward the hole. A few seconds later... boom! A hole-in-one!

Fox becomes the 14th player ever to make a hole-in-one on the 17th hole during the Players Championship. Three players — Hayden Buckley, Aaron Rai and Alex Smalley — aced the famed par 3 last year. With the friendly hole location in the front of the green with a backstop behind the hole, Fox's ace might not be the last we see at 17 in the first round.

Fox was coming off an eagle at the par-5 16th hole, so he played the 16th and 17th in an impressive four shots. The New Zealander currently sits at 3-under par and two strokes back of the early lead held by Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele.
