Golfer Will Zalatoris will not be playing in Dallas this week. The 2022 St. Jude Championship winner announced his withdrawal from the 2024 CJ Cup Bryon Nelson after he suffered a “flare-up” in his back, a day before the start of the tournament.

The back has been a massive issue for the 27-year-old golfer. Zalatoris missed huge chunks of the 2023 season following a back injury. He would undergo a surgery in April 2023 and made his return alongside Tiger Woods at the Hero World Challenge in November.

Taking to his Instagram, Will Zalatoris admitted that he was left “frustrated” to miss this event. He would inform that despite being ahead of the schedule, his body still needs time for “rest and recovery“.

I am frustrated to miss a tournament I've enjoyed going to since I was nine years old... My back needs some rest and recovery. I am ahead of schedule according to my doctors but unfortunately the first six months back are the most important for the long term health of my back... I hate that a flare up happened during one of my favorite weeks all year. Will Zalatoris on Instagram.

Zalatoris was recently seen teaming up with Sahith Theegala at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The duo combined to shoot a score of 73 in round two and finished with a score of 6-under. However, they missed the cut line of 8-under by two strokes and were forced to take an early exit.

How much action will Will Zalatoris miss after withdrawing from CJ Cup Bryan Nelson?

Will Zalatoris’ sudden withdrawal from the CJ Cup Bryan Nelson has left the fans concerned once again. Since the announcement of this, many are wondering, how much action will Will Zalatoris miss.

As of now, there has been no timeline on his return. Zalatoris, who played in the previous three events of the tour, has been replaced by five-time PGA Tour champion Nick Whitney in the playing field for this week’s tournament.

Since making his return on the PGA Tour this year, Zalatoris has had mixed results. In the ten events he has participated in, Zalatoris has achieved three top-10 finishes which included being the runner-up at The Genesis Invitational and has missed the cut three times at the Sony Open, The Players Championship and last week at the Zurich Classic.

In his return there has been one massive change though. He has changed his putting style and is using the broomstick technique, which has had a great impact on his gameplay. Fans are now eagerly waiting for some positive news from his side and are hoping to see him return to the greens soon.
