Point guard Ahmed Ali, of John Polanyi High School in Toronto, scored 103 points Wednesday night in the team's 111-76 victory over C.W. Jefferson Wednesday night.
Ali, who drained 22 three-pointers in the game, joined former NBA player Denham Brown as the only Canadian players to score over 100 points in a high school contest. Brown scored 111 points in a game back in 2002.
"After the first half, I started taking stats, I felt something special was going to happen," John Polanyi basketball coach Adeel Sahibzada said after the game. "They tried box and one, double teaming, diamond (1-3-1) and 3-2 zone defense. … It was tough to guard him … every time he touched the ball, he launched."
Ali had 48 points at halftime with his team leading 56-28.
Ranked among the top 50 Canadian high school prospects, Ali is expected to play in high-level Canadian junior college next season.
