After a state veterinarian voided a claim for Olivier, a full brother to unbeaten 2022 Horse of the Year Flightline, at Keeneland April 17, the 4-year-old Tapit colt has returned to breeder and co-owner Jane Lyon's Summer Wind Farm in Georgetown, Ky. to live out his days.

Olivier, who is winless in three career starts, all this year, was claimed out of his fourth-place finish in the seven-furlong race for $100,000 claimers at the Lexington track, but because he pulled off a most of his right front shoe exiting the starting gate and grabbed his lateral heel, the claim that was filed was subsequently voided due to the mishap, trainer Rodolphe Brisset reported via X.

The gray/roan colt had a several physical issues while in training that delayed the start of his racing career until January this year. As for last week’s misfortune, Olivier suffered no serious injury.

“It became obvious once he was in training that he wasn’t his brother,” Lyon said of Olivier on Summer Wind’s Facebook page.

Lyon, who bred Olivier from the Indian Charlie mare Feathered, a pairing that also produced Lane's End stallion Flightline, reached a private agreement with co-owners WinStar Farm and Siena Farm, for Olivier to return to his birthplace.

"I feel like breeders need to be responsible for what they bring into this world," Lyon said.
