As part of our preview for the upcoming 2012 season, we’ll be doing a 10 Bold Predictions for 2012 series that will be featured between now and Opening Day. Our fourth prediction deals with who we see bringing home the World Series Title in 2012, the Anaheim Angels. Some folks reading this post will be quick to jump at us and say that this is hardly a bold prediction. However, a deeper look would reveal that simply trying to predict who emerges out of the scuttlebutt of a 162 game season and three playoff series is no easy thing. The Anaheim Angels are baseball’s closest version of the Miami Heat. They’re loaded. But even the Heat weren’t able to get the chemistry just right to get through the postseason and emerge as the NBA’s best in their first season of assembly. The Angels will hardly be a lock. They’re predicted at an over/under of 89.5 wins heading into the season which is trailing the Yankees (93), Detroit (94), and Texas (94) in their own division. As a side prediction, i...

Howie Kendrick: Primed for Greatness

By Brian Waller - AngelsWin.com Columnist <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">For years Howie Kendrick was touted as a future batting champ and rightfully so, Kendrick did hit at least .360 at every level of the minors. That promise however, never seemed to materialize at the major league level. The reason you ask...

Will Albert Pujols really 'rub off'on the rest of the Angels lineup?

A lot has been made of the huge effect that Albert Pujols is going to make on the Angel lineup.  We all know he is going to put up big numbers, but what a lot of people are assuming is that he is going to "rub off" on the rest of the team.  In particular, his excellent plate discipline is apparently supposed to magically be transferred to the rest of the Angel hitters...

How long before Amarista takes over?

It’s hard to imagine Alexi Amarista can do any more than he has this spring to earn a spot on the Angels.  After impressing in his second consecutive season of winter ball, Amarista entered spring as a dark horse candidate to inherit a backup role with the Angels.  But he’s done nothing but impress since stepping onto the field and may have potentially earned a spot in a featured...

Richards, Williams continue to fight for rotation spot

It's taken him a while, but Angels right-hander Jerome Williams finally made his pitch to be the team's fifth starter. On a minor league field in Phoenix, Williams worked three scoreless innings Monday against the Oakland A's in a Triple-A game. It marked his spring debut after he was slowed by a strained left hamstring. The job of No. 5 starter figured to be his all...

2012 burning question: Los Angeles Angels

From today's season preview of the Los Angeles Angels... Burning QuestionShould the Angels just be willing to cut bait on Bobby Abreu and Vernon Wells in order to give younger, more talented players more playing time? Bobby Abreu started at DH for the Angels last season, and managed a .718 OPS. He made $9 million, and will make $9 million this season after his 2012 option vested...

Bobby Abreu really needs to shut up

Enough is enough.  We've been putting up with him for weeks, but after his latest comments, it is high time that we shout from the rooftops that Bobby Abreu just needs to shut the hell up. Quite simply, he's taken it too far.  These are no longer the words of a frustrated veteran, but rather of an entitled, deluded buffoon who appears to be making it his personal mission...

2012 season preview: Los Angeles Angels

The Angels have played second fiddle in the AL West for the last couple years after the back to back AL pennants won by the Texas Rangers. This offseason, Los Angeles set to change that trend, by signing both first baseman Albert Pujols and former Rangers starting pitcher CJ Wilson. Combine those two with their incumbent crew (Dan Haren, Howard Kendrick, Jered Weaver), and it'...

2012 Player Preview: Jason Isringhausen

In need of a mentor for Jordan Walden, the Angels scooped up Jason Isringhausen from the veteran scrap heap.  He doesn't even have a roster spot, but is already looking like he could play a prominent role (or two) in the Angel bullpen.  Will Isringhausen prove to be a great value pick up or nothing more than a glorified bullpen coach? 2011 Stats: 3-3, 46.2 IP, 4.05 ERA,...
