Plenty has been said about the 1927 New York Yankees classifying them as the greatest offensive team in the history of Major League Baseball. Whenever a team is putting up all time numbers over the course of a season, they are always compared to the 1927 Yankees. When the Pittsburgh Pirates started trading away players in their prime in the late 2000s, General Manager Neal Huntington say something along the line of “It is not like we are breaking up the ’27 Yankees.” The seasons had by the two greatest players to ever wear a Yankees uniform, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig will never be equaled in the history of MLB. However, the Yankees team of 1936 had a deadlier everyday lineup and in my opinion, outperformed the 1927 version.
Ruth hit .356, 60, 164 with 158 RS and 192 hits that season. Gehrig may have topped it with his .373, 47, 175 with 149 RS, 218 hits, 52 2Bs and 18 3Bs. Ruth OPSed 1.258 and Gehrig 1.240. Bob Meusel (.337, 8, 103) and Tony Lazzeri (.302, 18, 102) also had 100 R...

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was injected
with performance-enhancing drugs as recently as last spring by Anthony Bosch,
operator of the now-infamous Biogenesis of America clinic in south Florida,
according to an “Outside the Lines” report.
The texts, the source said, usually came late at night,
telling Anthony Bosch to come to the house. Bosch would...
LIKE PEELING AN ONION
Reports now allege that Anthony Bosch, the director of the Biogenesis clinic in Miami, would travel to Alex Rodriguez's home and personally inject him with PEDs.
Mark Teixeira gave a thoroughly honest interview to the Wall Street Journal in which he admitted that he is overpaid and aging.
Teixeira signed an eight-year, $180 million contract with the New York Yankees prior to the 2009 season. He has four seasons left under the current deal, and he is scheduled to earn $22.5 million each year.
Though he was one of the most productive first...
The New York Yankees have signed outfielders Matt Diaz, Juan Rivera and Thomas Neal, infielder Dan Johnson and catcher Bobby Wilson to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training.
The Yankees also announced Thursday they have invited 44 players to camp. Among the group were first-round picks Slade Heathcott, an outfielder from the 2009 draft, and Cito Culver, a shortstop...
Yankees Injury Update
Throughout 2012 and early 2013, the New York Yankees saw big
injuries happen to big-name players. Spring Training 2013 begins on Saturday,
February 16, and the Yankees are counting on those big names to come back
strong and push the team into the postseason once again. Here is an update on
the injuries to the Yankee’s key players.
From Yankees.com: The Yankees on Friday finalized a one-year contract with free-agent slugger Travis Hafner, who is expected to help fill the club's designated hitter slot for the 2013 season.
Hafner, 35, batted .228 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs in 64 games for the Indians last season. Cleveland cut ties with Hafner in October, choosing to pay the left-handed hitter a $2...
I'm pretty sure Mark Teixeira is doing it wrong. The New York Yankees slugger opened up to the Wall Street Journal, admitting that, among other things, he is, well...not the player he used to be."Maybe I'm slowing down a tick. Look, I'm not going to play forever," the 32-year-old said. "Eventually you start, I don't want to say declining, but it...
The news just gets more and more disappointing for baseball fans. We recently learned of a big doping lab in Miami, Florida. Today, a report from ESPN says that Biogenesis boss Anthony Bosch personally injected Alex Rodriguez with performance-enhancing drugs. According to the report, Rodriguez got personal treatment - secretive...
On Tuesday, the Miami New Times reported that Alex Rodriguez had been receiving performance enhancing drugs from a wellness clinic in Miami, Florida. This really blows if you are a New York Yankee fan because that means you have to defend the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship against people that will say it was tainted. It also blows because A-Rod has definitely not been...
I feel pretty bad for Natasha and Ella Rodriguez these days. The daughters of Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez probably don’t know much about what’s going on with dear ol’ dad. Good thing, too. Imagine what lessons they’d be learning if they were still living with him: “Now girls, it’s OK to cheat, especially [...]
So is anyone sick of talking about Alex Rodriguez yet?
Since the answer to that question is probably yes, here is some more Yankee news that should interest fans. On Thursday, the Yankees and former Cleveland Indian Travis Hafner agreed to a one year deal worth about $2 million which could turn to $4 million based on plate appearances. Hafner is expected to fill the role that...
