Detroit Tigers
Strengths: With the addition of Prince Fielder, the Tigers boast arguable the best 3-4 (Miguel Cabrera, Fielder) punch in the league. The rest of the lineup rounds out well with Alex Avila, Jhonny Peralta, and Austin Jackson, to name a few. The pitching rotation is also strong at the front, with Justin Verlander and Doug Fister.
Weaknesses: The back end of the rotation lacks quality starters. Even if Verlander repeats his 2011 form, the Tigers will need help from their 3-5 starters to put less pressure on the offense. The bullpen is definitely a strength, but they can’t pitch the entire game.
Player to Watch: When a player switches leagues, we never know what to expect from it. Just look at Adam Dunn. But the Tigers are hoping that Prince Fielder can continue his success in Detroit, as they need him to fill the void left by Martinez.
