Scott DIamond (credits below) We go out to Minnesota this week where we may have just found the latest fantasy "gem" and a SS playing like a seasoned veteran. SP-SCOTT DIAMOND (MINNESOTA)- Although it is difficult for me to recommend anyone playing for the Twins I do like Diamond who continues to pitch well for the Twins. In 19 1/3 innings he has a 3-0 record with a 1.39 ERA. He doesnt strike out many but does possess a 64.4 groundball rate to go with a 0.98 WHIP. We should see the Twins in a youth movement for the 2012 season as they currently stand as the worst team in the major leagues. Scott will get plenty of opportunities and is definitely worth a look if you need help in your pitching categories. C/1B/3B- YAN GOMES (TORONTO)- Gomes who was called up last week when Brett Lawrie started his four game suspension has three postion eligibilty and can flat out rake the ball. While at AAA Las Vegas Gomes was hitting .359 with 5 HR and 22 RBI in 131 AB's. Yan started hi...

The Jason Marquis experiment in Minnesota lasted just seven starts.
The Twins announced Tuesday that they have designated the veteran Marquis for release or assignment and will call up right-hander Cole DeVries from Triple-A Rochester to take Marquis' spot on the roster.
Marquis, a 33-year-old with 106 career wins in 13 seasons, signed a one-year, 3 million contract in the...
Although the Twins are pretty much hamstrung and stuck with Joe Mauer for the foreseeable future, that doesn't mean there aren't some moves they could make to try to rebuild quickly - which they'll have to do in order to become contenders again before Mauer is completely out of his prime assuming he isn't already. Obviously the #1 priority should be the draft...
Through most of Ron Gardenhire's tenure as manager, the Minnesota Twins have won with a consistent set of starting pitchers who have been remarkably good at avoiding injuries. The Twins have used 10 or more starting pitchers in a season just twice since 2002, and in both of those seasons -- 2006 and 2009 -- they gave a handful of starts to September call-ups. This season, though...
After a 16-4 loss to Milwaukee on Sunday ended whatever momentum Minnesota had gained during a four-game winning streak, the Twins had to sit through an off day Monday before returning to the field.
A lopsided 9-2 win Tuesday against the division rival Chicago White Sox is a good way to get back on track.
"Coming off a day off, you never know what's going to happen,"...
- Quick, what's the flukiest home run season in history? You thought of Brady Anderson's 50 in 1996, right? Of course, I'm pretty sure everybody did. He's as out of place on a list of players with 50 homers in a season as most of this blog's readers would be in a book store, and I'm pretty sure he's the first name most people would come up with...
I know the Minnesota Twins don’t exactly inspire confidence in fantasy circle as baseball’s worse team. Even fantasy staples Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau aren’t performing at the levels you’d expect. The only player to truly deliver this year has been Josh Willingham.
. Suddenly there is another player that is producing above expectations. That player is...
For Terry Steinbach, playing baseball didn't end when he retired from the major leagues in 1999. The former Minnesota Twins catcher and New Ulm native continued to play the game he loved for more than a decade.
It began with town ball for several years, and eventually Steinbach joined a league in Minnesota designed for players 35 years and older. Now 50, however, Steinbach has...
Minnesota fans have had very little to cheer about this season, as the Twins are tied with the Cubs for the worst record in Major League Baseball at 15-28. The Twins trail the Cleveland Indians by ten games and have a league worst run differential of minus 69 runs.
One bright spot is first year Twin pitcher P.J. Walters, a former eleventh round draft pick by the Cardinals in the...
The Minnesota Twins have the worst record in the American League but they don't play anything like that when they visit U.S. Cellular Field.
Following another big offensive showing in Chicago, the Twins look to extend their best stretch of the season Wednesday night with another road win against the White Sox.
This has been a very disappointing first two months for Minnesota...
The Twins have decided to designate the contract of Jason Marquis for assignment, a major-league source told FOXSports.com.
The move is expected to become official in the next 24 to 48 hours. Marquis went 2-4 with an 8.47 ERA in seven starts for the Twins this year. His last start was his worst, as he lasted only 1 2/3 innings while surrendering eight earned runs in a Sunday loss...
Last year it was outfielder Michael Cuddyer. This year, catcher Drew Butera became the next position player to pitch in relief for the Minnesota Twins.
Butera was called upon to pitch in the eighth inning of Sunday's blowout loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. After starter Jason Marquis lasted just 1 23 innings, Minnesota's bullpen had a full day of work in store. Enter Butera...
– The Minnesota Twins designated right handed pitcher Jason Marquis for assignment according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.
– The Tampa Bay Rays designated left handed pitcher John Gaub for assignment to open a spot on the 40-man roster reports Joe Smith of the St. Petersburg Times.
– The Arizona Diamondbacks designated infielder Cody Ransom for assignment and recalled infielder...
After coming off a sweep to the Minnesota Twins, the Tigers looked to rebound when the Pittsburgh Pirates came to Comerica. Both clubs had losing records coming into the series and both trying to make up games in the standings. This made for a great three days of baseball, that saw near history, new career highs, and [...]
