The MLB season opened early this morning in Tokyo, Japan with the Seattle Mariners beating the Oakland Athletics 3-1 behind Ichiro Suzuki's 4-5 performance at the plate.
The start of the MLB season always triggers my interest to look at the pre-season World Series odds.

Although the 2012 Royals uniforms were revealed months ago, sports uniform obsessor, Paul Lukas of Uni Watch has released his complete 2012 MLB uniform preview.
Lukas blames the relatively unnoticed "solid-looking" uniforms on the fact the Royals have been "so bad for so long".
Royals Uniform Preview:
A very solid-looking club whose uniforms rarely get...
With the news that Joakim Soria will be out for the season with Tommy John Surgery, the Royals need to look for another option at closer. Automatically Jonathan Broxton comes to mind to a lot of people because of his prior closing experience*, but let’s take a look at some other options that the Royals will have in the bullpen and on the 40 man roster.
* I said at the time that...
The 34-year-old lefty has played pretty solidly for the Royals the past three years. In 20 starts last year, Bruce Chen won 12 of them and had a 3.77 ERA. In order for the Royals to have a successful season they are going to need dependable veteran players like Chen. Also you have to consider the fact that Chen only has a base salary of 2 million dollars. I believe that Dayton did...
Mike Sweeney's stint in Philadelphia was brief, but he quickly became a fan favorite and was the kind of player you could really pull for. With his positive attitude and his willingness to share hugs with everyone who did something well, Sweeney was certainly a guy that fit well in any clubhouse he suited up in.
Now Sweeney will be suiting up ina different way.
It’s been an interesting major league career for Alex Gordon. The player proclaimed as the next George Brett, a can’t miss prospect, almost became the next Clint Hurdle, the Royals late 70′s can’t miss prospect who did miss.
It started out so well. After a stellar collegiate career at the University of Nebraska, the Royals selected Gordon as the second overall pick of the...
Bruce Chen, who led the Kansas City Royals in wins the past two years, will be the opening day starter on April 6 at the Los Angeles Angels.
Manager Ned Yost made the announcement Tuesday after Chen had his best spring training outing in a 9-7 victory over Milwaukee, holding the Brewers to three runs and seven hits in six-plus innings, while striking out six and walking one.
It looks like the Kansas City Royals are close to deciding on their new closer. Since Joakim Soria went down with an elbow injury they’ve been debating between the experienced Jonathan Broxton and young, up and coming Greg Holland. Jon Heyman tweeted this afternoon that Broxton looks to be the front runner.
@JonHeymanCBS: The #royals are leaning toward jonathan broxton as their...
2011 RecapThe Royals finished fourth in the AL Central in 2011, posting a 71-91 record. Despite the struggles, the team saw the debuts of its two top prospects. Third basemen Mike Moustakas (.263 BA, 5 HR, 30 RBI) showed glimpses of why he was the #2 overall pick in the 2007 draft, and will likely show more power in 2012. First baseman Eric Hosmer was called up in May, and did not...
Naturals Announce Preliminary 2012 Roster
14 players return from last year’s playoff team
SURPRISE, AZ – As the Northwest Arkansas Naturals prepare to break camp in Arizona in the coming days, the Naturals announce a preliminary roster as spring training draws to a close.
The roster includes 14 players who contributed to the Naturals’ playoff run in 2011. Joining those Double...
PHOENIX (AP) -- Eric Hosmer hit two homers and had four RBIs to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 9-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.
Yuniesky Betancourt, Mike Moustakas and Max Ramirez also homered for the Royals.
Bruce Chen, who allowed 10 runs and 10 hits in his previous start, allowed three runs and seven hits with six strikeouts in six innings.
Chen will be the...
It's been a very good Spring for the Brewers starters, but it hasn't been perfect and Yovani Gallardo proved that today as the Kansas City Royals roughed up the Milwaukee ace for 4 runs on their way to a 9-7 victory at Maryvale Baseball Park. The likely opening day starter went 5 innings, gave up 6 hits, 1 walk, and 4 runs. However, Gallardo also struck out 6 Royals in...
Right fielder Nelson Cruz left the Texas Rangers' 7-6 victory over the Kansas City Royals with a bruised right hand.
Cruz was hit by a pitch from Luke Hochevar in the third inning Wednesday night. The 2011 ALCS MVP hit 29 homers last year but was sidelined for 29 games because of a strained left hamstring and strained right quadriceps muscle.
Lorenzo Cain and Billy Butler each...

Dustin Ackley drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning and Ichiro Suzuki went 4 for 5 as the Seattle Mariners beat the Oakland Athletics 3-1 Wednesday in baseball's season-opener in Tokyo.
Brendan Ryan doubled to lead off the 11th, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Chone Figgins and scored on Ackley's single to center.
Suzuki then gave Seattle an insurance...
