The Phils lock horns with the Yankees for what feels like the 100th time this Spring. J-Rol rejoins the team after returning from the World Baseball Classic.
Housekeeping: Rodrigo Lopez was reassigned to Minor League camp and told reporters he would accept an assignment to the IronPigs. He has a June 1 opt-out if he is not on the Phillies by then. Once upon a time in our not too distant past, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard were a two-man wrecking crew for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2006, the two combined for 13.7 fWAR as Howard hit 58 homers and Chase Utley was in the second year of a five-year run that might be among the best runs ever for a second baseman. Howard has never matched the incredible numbers he put up in 2006...

team. Is our goal 189 next year? Yes. But only if I’m convinced if the team I see, that we’ve put together, is a championship-caliber team.”
That is what New York Yankees inherited owner Hal Steinbrenner...
Mentioning the term ''window of opportunity'' to the Philadelphia Phillies results in a wide range of reactions.
Ryan Howard scoffs at it. Cole Hamels understands it. Ruben Amaro Jr. dismisses it. Roy Halladay accepts it. Charlie Manuel wants to use it as motivation.
The Phillies are no longer the team to beat in the NL East after capturing five straight division...
*The Phillies gave away minor league pitcher, Michael Cisco. Not released, not waived, not traded, but literally given to the Angels. No compensation. Very altruistic of them. The 25 year old has been amazing since converting to relief. Over the past two seasons in Double and Triple-A he has gone 13-3, in 69 appearances, pitching 137.1 innings, with 109 strikeouts, a 1.70...
The New York Yankees recently added free agent Brennan Boesch
to bolster the competition in the outfield, and the former Detroit Tigers outfielder
likely isn’t the last veteran general manager Brian Cashman looks at before the
start of the regular season, according to Dan Martin of The New York Post.
“Opening Day’s not till a ways down the line. I’m keeping my...
The 2013 Phillies Spring Training is turning in a soap opera of sorts. Strange things are afoot. A recent “trade” report may be the strangest of them all.
According to a tweet from Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com and a short note in a MLB.com article, the Phillies have literally given away a solid minor league pitcher to the Angels. Right-hander Michael Cisco averaged a 1.70 ERA...
Domonic Brown hit his sixth home run of the spring in the Phillies' 4-1 win over the Yankees. For the first spring of his career, Kyle Kendrick doesn't have to focus on making the rotation. The Phillies' likely fourth starter continued to post positive results this spring with another strong...
New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says shortstop Derek Jeter will play only in minor league spring training games for the rest of spring training.
The move could cut short how much time Jeter would miss if he starts the season on the 15-day disabled list. By not playing in major league exhibitions, the Yankees want to be able to backdate Jeter's start time on the...
Was at Vision Expo East 2013 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan over the weekend and Bernie Williams of the New York Yankees was there taking pictures and signing autographs. The fiance was tempted to wait online for a picture but everybody and their mother was in line and we actually had some business to attend to. Oh well. It would've been fun...but at least we got to...
Philadelphia Phillies Downtown Domonic Brown now leads #MLB with 6 homeruns in Spring Training on 2013. Get the latest updates at MTRbaseball.com!
While spring training isn’t the time to get up in arms over injuries or players recovering from them, New York Yankees living legend Derek Jeter has been scratched from today’s lineup because of stiffness in his left ankle.
Via USA Today:
New York manager Joe Girardi said that Jeter was flexing the ankle a lot during batting practice. Jeter eventually went to trainer Steve Donohue...
A familiar face may soon be rejoining the Yankees.
According to Trenton Thunder beat writer Josh Norris, former Yankee Chien-Ming Wang was visible at the Yankees’ spring training complex down in Tampa, Fla. this morning. However, Wang has not signed a contract with the team just yet. The Yankees had scouted Wang in the WBC, where he pitched well for his native Taiwan, going 1-0...
Hannah Davis is a 22-year-old, 5’10″ model who comprises one fourth of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue rookie class for 2013. We’ll take a look at all of them, and see which has the potential to be the next Kate Upton.
Hannah Davis grew up in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Must have been nice to have warm sun and beaches instead of ice and slush all the time.
The Dominican Republic is much more than a great place to vacation now (been there; loved it--highly recommend it). The small island nation is now home to the World Baseball Classic champions!
Puerto Rico never had a chance against the DR in San Francisco Tuesday night. Edwin Encarnacion got the scoring started with a two run double in the first, and that would end up being...
Derek Jeter treated fans to some batting practice before a sore ankle sent him home early.
Domonic Brown hit his sixth homer of the spring, Kyle Kendrick threw six impressive innings and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York Yankees 4-1 Tuesday.
Those who came to see Jeter play his first road game of the spring left disappointed because the Yankees captain was scratched from...
