AMERICAN LEAGUE Baltimore Orioles - Although the Orioles do lack quality starting pitching, their offense and defense are so good, that it almost doesn’t matter. With a lineup set to be; Nick Markakis, Manny Machado, Chris Davis, Adam Jones, Nelson Cruz, Matt Wieters, J.J. Hardy, no pitcher will have much success against them, and with the AL East weaker than ever, the Orioles short window to win is now, and they have the roster to do so. Kansas City Royals - The best defensive team in the game, some good hitters and a solid rotation, in a weakened central division is a recipe for success. The Royals have 3 current Gold Glover’s and 5 finalists, they have added Omar Infante and Norichika Aoki to the top of lineup, and Jason Vargas to the rotation. They have Eric Hosmer, a potential breakout player, Billy Butler a proven slugger and one of the best closer’s in the game; Greg Holland. With the Tigers and Indians weakening this off-season, 2014 is the year for the Royals to win the cen...

Time for the Mets to Make a Bold Move

The Mets front office has done a great job amassing talent in its minor league system. The Number 6 ranking is a testament to the skill with which Sandy Alderson and the scouting staff have upgraded what was once an empty shelf.  Of course, none of that minor league talent matters if the players don't produce at the Major League level.   The clearest depth the Mets have is...

Ruben Tejada, The Unwanted Man

Mets SS Ruben Tejada opens up about his brutal 2013 season, and what he’s done to ensure it doesn’t happen again: http://t.co/CX3z4FsF6O— Marc Carig (@MarcCarig) February 23, 2014 Marc Carig of Newsday wrote a pretty good article about Ruben Tejada's offseason of coping with a bad year and how he is looking to improve both physically and mentally. Some excerpts from the...

Wrapping Up The Day: Matt Harvey Throws; Mets Re-Fi; Collins To Ease In Vets

Matt Harvey’s first throwing session and news of the New York Mets’ refinancing their debt incurred from the Ponzi ruling were today’s most significant developments from the Mets’ spring training camp in Port St. Lucie. Harvey made 20 throws on flat ground from 60 feet Saturday morning and described his feelings as “awesome.’’ Harvey will continue to throw on Mondays...

Ike Davis Needs To Put His Head Down, Play Ball

Ike Davis, as you have heard by now, has run into a bit of media trouble, and not for the first time. He seems to have developed a little bit of a set of rabbit ears with how he is written and spoken about in the papers and on the radio. Here is audio of Davis' confrontation with Mike Puma, the reporter who wrote the article concerning Ike keeping an oblique strain from team...

Mets360 2014 projections: Bobby Parnell

At the end of the Omar Minaya tenure, it seemed the team bent over backwards to minimize any injury. Seemingly every injury followed the same path. It would go from “it’s minor,” to “day-to-day,” to “15-day DL,” to “indefinitely out,” to “done for the year.” The running joke was that if the team announced a player had a blister, it was only a matter of time...

Mets' Matt Harvey throws for the first time since Tommy John surgery

New York Mets ace Matt Harvey had Tommy John surgery early in the offseason. Now, exactly four months later, he has started throwing again. The New York Times' Tim Rohan reported Saturday that Harvey threw approximately 20 tosses in the outfield of the Mets' Spring Training complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida.Matt Harvey just threw for the first time since Tommy John surgery...

Harvey's First Throwing Session A Success

“I felt very good,” Matt Harvey said after making 20 throws at 60 feet. “I’m kind of surprised, actually.”— Adam Rubin (@AdamRubinESPN) February 22, 2014This is terrible. No, really, it's great. It's virtually meaningless, but it's good. I'll still be angry if Harvey pitches this season, because I can't see the team having anything to play for come...

No Guarantee Mets Would Have Gotten Nelson Cruz For Bargain Price

It is an oversimplification to suggest the New York Mets could have signed Nelson Cruz for the same $8 million the Orioles did, if not a little more. Especially when juxtaposed against the Chris Young signing for $7.25 million. I was against the Young signing, but that had nothing to do with Cruz, whom I would have balked against because of his connection to PEDs and defensive liabilities...

2014 Mets Projections: Juan Lagares

Fantasy season means players projections are ubiquitous right now. This is part of a multi-week series where we will go over projections player by player, averaging what we can to see how the computer models and pundits think the 2014 Mets players will do. Juan Lagares is my pick for center field because of his defense. However, TC is being offensively minded and Lagares has options...

Baltimore Orioles land slugger Nelson Cruz

Assuming that he passes his physical (never a sure thing in Baltimore), 33-year-old, free-agent outfielder Nelson Cruz will join the Baltimore Orioles on a one-year, $8 million contract, according to ESPN’s Enrique Rojas. The deal includes $750,000 in incentives which still leaves Cruz well below the $14 million qualifying offer the Texas Rangers presented the right-handed slugger...

Baltimore Orioles agree to terms with a big-name slugger

Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reports that the Baltimore Orioles and Nelson Cruz have agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract, pending a physical. Lucas Knows A Marketing Opportinity When He Sees It

We all know that with all things equal, Lucas Duda would like to be the first baseman for the New York Mets. That's why when Ike Davis told the Post that he hid an oblique injury last season (wouldn't you if you feared a cortisone shot right in the middle of your stomach), Lucas saw an opportunity to let the Mets know that he was the right man for the job with a marketing...

Welcome to Mets baseball! Ike Davis hid an injury all year

Last season was a bad one for the New York Mets Ike Davis. A year after clubbing 32 home runs, Davis’ production dropped off considerably, hitting only 9 in 103 games played. He was so bad that he was demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas. What the Mets didn’t know, according to a report in the […]Continue reading...

John Rhodes/Fort Worth Star-Telegram/MCT John Miceli Founder The Orioles have officially signed outfielder, Nelson Cruz to a one year/8 million dollar deal, according to sources.
