Another Cubs Blog:
The Cubs led 1-0 going to the top of the 3rd. Jason Marquis kind of fell apart that inning and it was capped off by a 3-run home run by Carlos Lee. They came right back. In a big way.
Mark DeRosa hit a grand slam to put the Cubs back up by 1 in the 3rd inning. The Cubs sent 11 to the plate that inning as they scored 8 runs. Soriano added a 3-run home run after DeRosa's grand slam. An inning later, Fukudome drove in 2 on a double down the line making it 11-4. Even with Jason Marquis on the mound, you feel pretty good when you have a 7-run lead.
Marquis settled down and worked into the 7th inning. Marshall pitched 1.2 innings and Jeff Samardzija pitched a perfect 9th and the final score was 1l-4.
With the win the cubs improved to 23 games over .500, the high point of 2008 season so far. The team gets their first day off since the All-Star break (20 games in a row). The Cardinals come in on Friday and the Cubs send Lilly, Zambrano and Dempster to the mound.
