Found April 17, 2013 on RedSoxLife:
The Boston Red Sox continued their hot streak winning their 5th game in a row, the second in Cleveland. 15 hits by the Red Sox lead the way, with the team getting on the board early and often. Indians pitcher Justin Masterson was tied for the MLB lead in ERA but lost that after the Red Sox hitters roughed him up early. The Red Sox are currently 10-4, and are 9-0 when scoring first. The Red Sox bullpen has continued to be fantastic, once again getting their starting pitchers out of a sticky situation. Here are your stars of the game: Star 3: Daniel Nava Nava went 2-5 on the night with 2 RBI's. In the first inning he singled to left field bringing in Dustin Pedroia, bring the lead to 3. Nava is currently one of the hotter bats in the lineup, hitting .324 on the year. Star 2: Mike Napoli Napoli also was 2-5 on the day with 2 RBI's. He started the run scoring in the first inning with a bases loaded single. Napoli was the most patient hitter at the plate tonight for the Sox see...

Turning the Masty Corner?

I am sort of obsessed with Justin Masterson. Every year, whether he has a difficult April (like last year) or a fabulous one (like 2011) I find myself poring over his stat line to see if anything remarkable has changed.  More often than not, I end up concluding the same thing each year: he’s a good pitcher who—as most non-strikeout pitchers do—relies heavily on the random...

Second Thoughts Game #13: Red Sox 6, Indians 3

Pre-Game Commentary After watching Ubaldo Jimenez on Tuesday, I was happy to know Justin Masterson would be taking the hill in this game. In the last five games the Indians had only scored more than two runs once, Saturday’s 9-4 victory over Chicago. With the offense scuffling, a strong starting pitching performance seemed necessary to give the team a chance to even up the...

Jon Lester’s Return to Form, Daniel Nava’s Help Filling In for David Ortiz Among Biggest Red Sox Surprises So Far (Video)

With the team exceeding expectations 14 games into the young season, NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette asked our Twitter followers what they think is the most surprising thing about the Sox this year. Star's Shares: 4/17/13

Chris Carter as a child   Most fantasy writers have no problem recommending players you should go after, but do they really pick up all the players they hype up? I’ll answer for them: no. Here on “Star’s Shares,” we’ll discuss players yours truly has personally invested in. If a player is good enough to sit on one of my three teams, then surely they are worthy...

3 Stars of the game, game 12

On a day that will never be remembered for how the Red Sox performed, but instead for the tragedy that occurred at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, the Boston Red Sox completed the sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays. I apologize for not having this out yesterday but given the circumstances of me living so close to Boston, where the marathon route runs right by my campus I chose to...
