Ryan MacLeod Contributing Writer The stage was set perfectly for the Red Sox to show America that they are indeed the best team in baseball, the Sunday Night game on ESPN. Its the game that everyone that is a baseball fan watches, and the Sox came out flat, getting only 5 hits in 9 innings, scoring 0 runs. Lackey pitched well, a good showing from him back in his old stomping grounds but the offense never got started, and like that they lost a series to the Angels on the road. Here are the 3 stars of the game: Star 3: John Lackey Once again Lackey pitched well, well enough for a win if the offense had been able to score some runs. Lackey who is now 6-6 on the year pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits and only 2 runs. He struck out 9 and walked 2. He now has an ERA of 2.80 on the year. Star 2: Jarrod Weaver Weaver improved to 3-4 on the season with a 6.2 inning outing. He gave up 5 hits and 0 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. His ERA on the year is now 3.38 Star 1: Mike Trout Tr...

Game 90: Red Sox at Angels - Sox push forward with Lackey facing former team

Ben Whitehead Contributing Writer In most years, a loss like the one the Boston Red Sox took Saturday night would be a crushing blow and the beginning of a long losing streak. But not this team. Not this year. The Red Sox (54-35) stunningly fell to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (42-45) in extra innings, 9-7, after blowing a 7-3 lead they took into the bottom of the ninth. This...

John Lackey Looks to Help Red Sox Bounce Back After Tough Loss in Extra Innings

Luckily for Boston, it will send one of its hottest starting pitchers to the mound in John Lackey, as it tries to bounce back out west. Lackey (6-5) has been solid for over a month now, as he hasn’t lost a start since May 29 and has earned a win in three of his...

Four Real? Red Sox vs Angels 7-7-13

Pete Lepak RedSoxLife Staff Game 70: Sox still hurting from last night, lose 3-0. Last night's debacle gave the Red Sox a hangover, and they struggled to keep up offensively all game. To give credit to Jered Weaver, he was sharp, allowing five hits in 6 2/3 innings, and the Red Sox just never looked comfortable against him. Boston's John Lackey matched him inning for inning...

Video: Weaver, Angels Shutout Red Sox, 3-0

Recap - Sox bats go silent in rubber match

The Guru Contributing Writer The Red Sox were not able to muster any runs as Jared Weaver and the Angels bullpen shut down baseball's most potent offense 3-0. It was only the fifth time the Red Sox have been shut out this season. Mike Trout and Hank Conger hit solo home runs and Mark Trumbo knocked in an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The Red Sox wasted...

Trout to start in All-Star game, Puig on Final Vote ballot

Mike Trout is in. Is Yasiel Puig next? Trout, the Angels reigning rookie of the year, was voted to start in the American League outfield for the July 16 All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York, but he was the only member of the Angels or Dodgers to earn a starting spot. Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw was named to the National League pitching staff for a third consecutive...

West Coast takes its toll

Source: The Washington Post Before last night’s loss, the Red Sox hadn’t lost three games in a row since May 11-14th against the Blue Jays and Rays. The beginning of May was rough on the Sox, as they lost three in a row three separate times in a span of just over two weeks, but the beginning of July isn’t shaping up too well, either. Since making it over to the West Coast...

Team Value in Return or, How the Astros are Still a Laughing Stock

Casual baseball fans, think about the game on a semi-regular basis. How do I know this? I too was once a casual fan. Bloggers, are not casual fans. We spend our spare time thinking about what we can write about next and whether or not we wrote about it a week ago, or if some other blog has already tackled the subject. In other words, our bottles of soap and shampoo last much longer...

Jaime Maggio Interviews with AngelsWin.com

By David Saltzer, AngelsWin.com Senior Writer When Chuck Richter, founder and Executive Director of AngelsWin.com, asked if I was available to do an interview with Jaime Maggio, I was excited, but really did not know what to expect. Many times, I have already met people affiliated with the Angels organization ahead of time, or, there is some specific story to tell, so the main...

Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 15

RANK PLAYER CHANGE COMMENTS 1 -- 0 Last Week: 1 Mike Trout - For all the great things he does on a regular basis, I am left in disbelief that he ended up on the blooper real for turning a leaping catch at the wall into a home run. I actually think that might be a sign that the Rapture draws nigh....
