The Milwaukee Brewers recalled third baseman Taylor Green from Triple-A Nashville to start in place of Aramis Ramirez, who is nursing a minor back injury. Nashville's season is over, so Green left his home in Comox, British Columbia at 6 a.m. Friday. When manager Ron Roenicke met with reporters about 1 1/2 hours before game time Friday night against the Cardinals, he said Green's plane had landed but he had not arrived at the stadium. Roenicke said Ramirez, who left Wednesday night's game with lower back pain, was feeling much better and might play on Saturday. Green was batting .198 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 45 games including 19 starts. Utilityman Jeff Bianchi started Thursday at Miami, but Roenicke said he was more comfortable with Green, whose regular position is third base.

Red-hot Brewers lose Ramirez to injury

As a team barely sticking in the conversation for a wild-card berth, the Milwaukee Brewers can't afford to lose anyone at this point in the season. Unfortunately for them, clean-up hitter and third baseman Aramis Ramirez could be out a while. Ramirez was held out of the lineup against the Marlins on Thursday due to a lower backoblique strain he sustained Wednesday night, and...

Catching up on the Past Few Days

I’ve been swamped with other stuff over the past few days and have sort of – OK, completely – neglected the blog over that time, so I’m going to do cover a couple things in brief:– What an incredible game last night. After 13 innings, nearly seven hours, an occurrence of #weirdbaseball, and another blown save, the Brewers won 5-4 on the strength of a Ryan Braun home run...

Marlins fan steals ball meant for little girl (Video)

Almost every baseball season, something like this usually plays out where a grown man/woman accidentally steals a ball meant for a little kid. In this clip from Wednesday's Marlins/Brewers affair, Brewers outfielder Norichika Aoki attempted to throw a ball to a little girl in a "Angry Birds" t-shirt. Watch as a guy in a black polo shirt robs her of the ball...
