Assuming the best closer in the history of baseball doesn’t implode in the 9th inning, the Yankees will win their 40th American League Championship tonight. Think about that for a few moments. They became the New York Yankees in 1913. Before that they were the New York Highlanders and in 1901 and 1902 they were the Baltimore Orioles. Since they became the Yankees they’ve won the American League 40 times in 97 years. 48 times they’ve reached the playoffs.
The Yankees never reached the playoffs as the Orioles or Highlanders. The first time they reached the playoffs was in 1921. Since then the American League has been won by a team other than the Yankees only 49 times. The entire American League combined has only 9 more pennants than the New York Yankees since 1921. That is why the Yankees are the greatest franchise in sports.

Sabathia’s Transformation
Need an example of how quickly someone’s post-season reputation can change? Look no further than a certain player on the New York Yankees. No, not Alex Rodriguez; at least he enjoyed some success in the post-season since 2002. Instead, the player is CC Sabathia.

For five games, the Yankees mostly sat back and waited for home runs. Sometimes they came, like Alex Rodriguez's game-tying shot in the 11th inning of Game 2. And sometimes they didn't, like when the Bronx Bombers stranded 10 base runners in Game 5...Read the full article on Bleacher Report...
