Found April 25, 2012 on Burning River Baseball:
Player of the Game With a double and an RBI fielder's choice, Travis Hafner takes tonight's Player of the Game. It is his second of the year, tying him for the team lead with Carlos Santana and Jason Kipnis. His score of 1.57 was almost matched by Aaron Cunningham who earned a score of 1.53. Feathers Up Aaron Cunningham knocked in his first run of the season today to bring the Indians within 2 in the 7th. Cunningham has played in all but 3 games this season, but has not had very many at bats as he usually comes in late in games for defensive purposes. The Indians have shuffled their lineup around in the last couple games, moving the hot hitting Jack Hannahan above the sluggish Casey Kotchman. Kotchman has not had a hit in his last 6 games played and the drop in the lineup should limit his number of at bats. It is possible that one more lineup change could be coming in the near future as well. If Michael Brantley continues to struggle and Jason Kipnis remains hot...

“The Moose is Loose” Mike Moustakas Royals T-shirt

Hooray! When I arrived home yesterday afternoon, I was pleasantly greeted with my brand new "The Moose is Loose" t-shirt waiting at my door. I came across this shirt in a Twitpic (on Twitter, of course) last week, and I had to have one! I love the style. It is simple, yet creative... and features a Royals hitter batting over .300. I had to wear it right away...

Hits keep coming for Indians' Hannahan

Sometimes it takes a player a long time to be in the right place at the right time, but that appears to be the case with Jack Hannahan. The veteran third baseman has seemingly found a home in Cleveland, and he's off to the best start of his career. Hannahan's two-run double Tuesday capped a three-run, fifth-inning rally that helped carry the Indians to a 4-3 win over Kansas...

Why Alcides Escobar should bat leadoff

Alcides Escobar should bat leadoff for the Kansas City Royals.  Immediately.  Your response may be, "WHAAAA???!!!!" or "WTF is WRONG with you?!"  Allow   me to expound before you throw me off a cliff. There are some conditions to put in place in order for this to make sense, so let's do that: 1.  Alex Gordon is going to continue hitting in the...

Indians 4 Royals 3: Tribe Keeps Royals Sinking, Move Into First

As a baseball fans, you know there are those games in which your team should win but end up losing. Then there are the games that your team has no business winning, yet does anyways. Last night in front of a sparse crowd at Progressive Field, your Cleveland Indians pulled off the latter. How else can you explain the 4-3 victory in which the Tribe loaded the bases with nobody out...

New injury knocks Royals' Cain off rehab assignment

More bad news for the Kansas City Royals. Sure, they won 8-2 at Cleveland on Wednesday night to snap a 12-game losing streak, earning their first victory since April 10, the day center field Lorenzo Cain went out with a strained left groin. The plan was for Cain to come off the disabled list Friday at Minnesota, but he is out indefinitely. Cain, who was on a rehab assignment...

Home cooking isn't helping Indians

The Cleveland Indians have been dominant on the road this season. Playing at home, however, has proven to be a major problem. Kansas City added to the Indians' home woes on Thursday, scoring three runs in the fifth inning en route to a 4-2 victory. The loss was Cleveland's sixth in eight games at Progressive Field in 2012, which has largely negated its 7-2 record on the...

Is Jack Hannahan The Next Casey Blake?

The following piece is something that I never thought I would write. I also still to this day cannot understand the immense love for Casey Blake that the Indians fans and the organization itself had for this guy. Readers of this site know that I have been a Blake hater for years. But nevertheless, I saw and appreciated his value and there will be a point to all of this. GM Chris...

Royals Promote Tommy Hottovy

KANSAS CITY, MO (April 25, 2012) — The Kansas City Royals selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Tommy Hottovy from Triple-A Omaha today and optioned right-handed pitcher Jeremy Jeffress to Omaha. With the selection of Hottovy, who is expected to be in uniform tonight (#46) in Cleveland, the Royals 40-man roster stands at 40.  In addition, the club returned outfielder Lorenzo...

Panic Time? Not yet.

So I've been away for a while from the site, but i'm back now and here to urge everyone not to push the panic button quite yet. Yes, the Royals have dropped 11 in a row and a franchise record 10 in a row at home. But let's be real here, did we expect them to win 90 games and contend for the playoffs? I certainly did not. My initial prediction was 77 wins, and I stand...

Random Athlete Of The Day- Kirk Saarloos

The former righty pitcher Kirk Saarloos is from Long Beach, California and graduated high school from Valley Christian High (school was founded in 1935 in case you were wondering). Kirk was a three-sport athlete in baseball, soccer, and football but decided to pursue baseball at Cal State Fullerton. In his first three seasons Kirk was strictly a relief pitcher out of the bullpen...

Indians hand Royals 12th consecutive loss

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Derek Lowe allowed one run over six innings and the Cleveland Indians handed the Kansas City Royals their 12th straight loss, 4-3 on Tuesday night. The Royals have been outscored 73-44 during the streak, which ties for third-longest in team history. They also lost 12 in a row in 1997 and 2008. Kansas City lost 13 straight in 2006 and had a team-record 19 consecutive...

Bo bikes, raises money for tornado victims

HENAGAR, Ala. - Heisman Trophy winner and former Kansas City Royals' All-Star, Bo Jackson and about 100 bicycle riders have started their five-day, 300-mile ride across Alabama to raise money for tornado relief in the state. A crowd of a couple of hundred people cheered Tuesday as Jackson led riders out of the tiny town of Henagar in the northeast part of the state. Celebrity...

4/26 Game Recap: Royals 4 - Indians 2

Player of the Game With a score of 3.32, a relief pitcher once a gain takes home the Player of the Game for the 3rd time this year. Joe Smith won his first award, pitching 1.2 perfect innings in today's loss. Feathers Up Since I complained about it so much last season, I feel that I should mention it when the Indians do the right thing. I am very happy with backup catcher...

Twins, Royals look to emerge from last place

By MIKE LIPKA, STATS EditorAs the two teams tied for the AL's worst record begin a weekend series, one of them is probably feeling a bit better than the other. The visiting Kansas City Royals look to win a third straight game for the first time in 2012 on Friday night while extending the Minnesota Twins' skid to six. Both of these clubs are 5-14, but the Royals are hoping...
