Player of the Game
Michael Brantley played the hero twice tonight, first in the sixth inning to give the Indians the lead with a two run single, then later to extend it with a two run home run. The home run was his fifth on the season and was blasted deep into the seats in right-center. His two hits and four RBI gave him a POG score of 7.11, more than double the next best player in tonight's game.
A little further explanation of the roster move that was discussed in the series preview: The Indians sent down Carlos Carrasco to take advantage of the new MLB double header rule. The 26th man on the roster for a double header is not effected by the normal 10 day minimum spent in the minors after being sent down. This will allow Carrasco to pitch a game on Friday and still come back to make his next start in the rotation. In the meantime, T.J. House will be available for use as a long reliever out of the bullpen. This is a nice loophole found in the new rule by...

Cleveland shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera told MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian that he feels like he is ready to come back-
Asdrubal said he feels 100%. Hopes to be activated and back in lineup for Indians on Wednesday or Thursday.

Cabrera went on the disabled list back on June 4th with a quad strain. You may remember he went down while trying...
BALTIMORE, MD - The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to Triple-A Columbus and recalled left-handed pitcher T.J. House from Columbus.
House, 23, has gone a combined 3-8 with a 4.83 ERA in 15 starts between Double-A Akron and Columbus this year (87.2 IP, 93 H, 47 ER, 11 HR, 33 BB, 75 K). The 75 strikeouts are second...
Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.
Dylan Baker (Lake County, SP) – W (4-5), 5.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R (both earned), 3 BB, 5 K – While the final line may not exactly look like the stuff of feature status, his five no-hit...
It hasn't always been easy, but the Cleveland Indians have managed to find ways to win of late.
Trying for a fifth consecutive victory, the Indians look to complete a sweep of the visiting Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Michael Bourn had three hits with three RBI as Cleveland (38-35) took advantage of five walks to score six times in the first inning, then hung on for an 8-7 win...
After a strong homestand that righted the Indians' ship, they hit the road for 11 games, starting with four in Baltimore. Ubaldo Jimenez lasted just 5.1 innings and got hit out of the park twice, and the offense didn't score until the sixth inning. They came on in a big way in that sixth, though, taking a lead that the bullpen would never relinquish.
Are we finally seeing...
NILES, OH- Monsoon-type rains opened up in Mahoning Valley two hours before game time, but the rain delay had little effect on the Scrappers, as they took down the Doubledays 4-1 Tuesday.
The electricity that made its way through the ballpark was not only the electric current from the seemingly endless lightning. It was also thanks to Chris Perez, who would pitch what he hoped would...
POTOMAC – Looking to avoid a sweep to open the second half of the season, the Carolina Mudcats kept the game close early, but fell behind and eventually fell to the Potomac Nationals 7-5 on Sunday night. The sweep drops Carolina’s record to 0-3 in the second half and 22-51 overall.
Making his eighth start for the Mudcats, right hander Nick Pasquale struggled from the beginning...
COLUMBUS- After remaining behind the entire game the Columbus Clippers rallied in the ninth inning for their second win of the series on Sunday, an 8-7 victory against the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs.
The Ironpigs took control in the first inning, taking advantage of Clippers starter Trevor Bauer’s off speed arsenal. Leading off for Lehigh Valley, Jermaine Mitchell tripled on a line...
Player of the Game
Drew Stubbs hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 7th inning. This home run brought the Indians within one run of the Twins.
Jason Kipnis continues to stay hot. He hit a single and 2 doubles today and knocked in the 2nd Indians run.
After sitting 6 games due to injury, Nick Swisher found himself back in the lineup. Though he didn'...
Last night in Baltimore the Indians played a game that made you proud to root for this team. Watching them battle, execute, and eventually win this one was another example of why this particular group can be easy to love.
Sure, for the first five innings you probably didn’t feel this way and I can certainly understand why. Baltimore’s Zach Britton shut the Tribe down completely...
BALTIMORE – Michael Brantley lifted the Cleveland Indians over the Baltimore Orioles with four RBIs and a home run to give Cleveland the 5-2 win on Monday night.
Ubaldo Jimenez (6-4, 4.58) received the start against Baltimore lefty Zach Britton (1-2, 5.51).
The Orioles struck first in their share of the first inning as right fielder Nick Markakis hit his 8th home run...
It’s no secret, if the Cleveland Indians are going to contend for a Wild Card bid or a division title, their starting pitching has to hold up. So far, it’s been a rollercoaster ride. As a team, the Indians are currently 23rd in the majors (and 10th in the American League) with a 4.24 earned run average. The Indians don’t have to be stellar from the mound; they just have to...
Cleveland, OH — On short notice, Minnesota starter Pedro Hernandez allowed just two runs over five innings as the Twins beat the Cleveland Indians, 5-3, to avoid a three-game sweep on Sunday.
Hernandez (3-1, 5.54) was recalled from Triple-A Rochester to fill in for scheduled starter Mike Pelfrey who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained back.
Akron, OH – Just like Saturday night, the Aeros took a 3-run lead into the 9th inning, but unlike that game, the Aeros held on to defeat the New Britain Rock Cats 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park despite a Rock Cat rally in the final inning.
After explosive hitting for both the Aeros and Rock Cats in the first 2 games of the series, both lineups were a little more reserved...
ZEBULON – A nail bitter until the end, the Carolina Mudcats were walk-off winners as they defeated the Frederick Keys 3-2 on Monday night. The win was the first for the team in the second half, bringing the Mudcats record to 1-3 in the second half and 23-51 overall.
With the score tied 2-2 entering the bottom of the ninth, designated hitter Bo Greenwell singled and stole second...
