Rehab Update:  Roberto Hernandez started for Columbus tonight. Former Fausto pitched 7 innings and allowed just 1 run on 4 hits. Rafael Perez is scheduled to to make a rehab appearance tomorrow for Columbus. Player of the Game Asdrubal Cabrera provided the only 2 Indians hits through the first 8 innings: a solo home run and a double. His score of 3.83 gives him a total of 7 Player of the Game awards this season. This was his first one since June 28th. Feathers Up Chris Seddon pitched a strong game, with just 2 costly mistakes. The first run scored by the Sox was unearned, but the unearned run was charged to Seddon after a 2-base error on a pick off attempt allowed a runner to advance to 3rd base. The second mistake was a home run to deep center field to Cody Ross. Seddon pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits. The Indians took advantage of 2 errors committed by Boston on one play, which started Jason Donald on 3rd base on what should have been an easy out. Donald ...

Buster Olney: Travis Hafner May Be Done in Cleveland

The book on Travis Hafner may be closed in Cleveland after the designated hitter was placed on the disabled list Thursday. The four-year, $57 million to which the Indians signed him was a complete bust. Hafner was often hurt during the term of the deal, and beyond that, the investment in the designated hitter greatly restricted the Indians in their efforts to piece together a contending...

Buchholz dominant in Red Sox win over Indians

CLEVELAND -- No one was more impressed than Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta. He made that clear after Boston's Clay Buchholz dominated Cleveland's lineup with a two-hit complete game in the Red Sox's 3-2 victory Friday night. "That's the best game I've seen pitched against us all year and it wasn't even a shutout," Acta said. Buchholz...

Larry Lucchino Says Bobby Valentine Has 'Done a Good Job,' Attributes Red Sox' Struggles to 'Combination of Factors'

So much has gone wrong for the Red Sox this season that it's hard to pick out just one reason for the team's struggles. You could call out the club's inconsistent starting pitching, injuries, untimely hitting, so on and so forth. Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino isn't ready to place blame on any one area, though. "There is no single source, there'...

Report: Felix Doubront Will Be Skipped Next Time Through Rotation as Youngster's Workload Mounts

Felix Doubront is going to be shut down, but not entirely. Bobby Valentine told reporters in Cleveland on Friday that the 24-year-old starter will be skipped over in the rotation for his next scheduled start, in favor of Aaron Cook. Doubront, who had been in line to start again against Baltimore, is expected to be available out of the bullpen if the Sox need him. Doubront has pitched...

'ClayTime' Comes at Perfect Moment With Red Sox in Need of Dominant Pitching Performance (Video)

Clay Buchholz is an ace. Right now, the Boston starter is pitching at about as high of a level as a pitcher can be, and the Red Sox have needed exactly that. Friday night, the offense was able to scratch together enough runs for another Buchholz gem to hold up, and the Sox held on for the 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians. It's an important win -- and the kind of game that the...

The same, however, could be said for the Indians, who are playing with a little...
