In honor of Phil Rogers, ACB is going to make a list of available players for each position that the Cubs could use help at in 2010. First up is the bullpen, which pretty much sucked in 2009. Rafael Soriano: Soriano became the Braves closer at the end of the 2007 season. After an injured 2008, Soriano had the best season he’d had since 2003 when he was with the Mariners. His FIP was nearly 2.5. His career FIP is 3.31. Mike Gonzalez: the former Pirates closer struck out 90 in 74 innings this year. He’s struck out more than 10 batters per 9 innings in his career. He also walks quite a few so he’d fit right in with the other Cubs relievers. Rafael Betancourt: career FIP of 3.17 Kiko Calero: injured a lot and really good when he’s healthy Darren Oliver: 3000 years old, but getting better with age somehow LaTroy Hawkins: the former Cub is a free agent and it would piss off the fans if the Cubs signed him so I’m hoping they do Placido Polanco: another free agent Jose Valverde: free agent who has said he’d like to sign with the Cubs so Cubs fans already love the **** out of this guy

Hypothetically Speaking: Would You Trade Milton Bradley for Derek Lowe (and cash!)?

As we all know by now:-The Braves need a big bat to compliment Brian McCann and Chipper Jones in the lineup. They have a surplus of starting pitchers to part with because of the emergence of Tommy Hanson and would love to get rid of Derek Lowe and the $45 million owed to him over the next three years. Many have said Lowe's contract is untradeable.-The Cubs want to get rid of...
