Player of the Game WIth a score of 2.77, Chris Seddon won his 2nd Player of the Game ever. Seddon pitched 2 solid innings and struck out 3. Feathers Up The non-Mafia part of the bullpen pitched well tonight. Chris Seddon and Frank Herrmann each pitched 2 innings and combined for 5 strike outs. The did not allow a single hit or walk in 4 innings pitched. Jason Donald was hit by a pitch in his wrist, which may be broken. Though this may not seem like a good thing, it gives the younger players and opportunity to prove themselves in the infield. Feathers Down The Indians had several opportunities to score. Twice they had had singles, followed by doubles and could not get a runner across the plate. The Indians were once again shut out, and expect a few more as the season comes to a close. Miguel Cabrera takes fan's 'Fire Leyland' sign

Here’s Tigers’ slugger Miguel Cabrera taking away a fan’s “Fire Leyland” sign the other day prior to a game against the Chicago White Sox. Initially, you can see Miguel was annoyed. But, then realized he should probably give it back, for whatever reason. The fan was later removed during the game. I also couldn’t help but notice the fan being unable to pronounce Miguel…...

Cabrera supports manager, steals sign

Miguel Cabrera has his manager's back -- and video evidence to prove it. A YouTube video has surfaced that shows Cabrera at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago this week, signing autographs and holding a sign under his left arm. The words on the sign, although turned away from the camera, can be seen through the poster board and appear to say "FIRE LEYLAND." While Cabrera...

Miguel Cabrera takes ‘Fire Leyland’ sign away from a fan (Video)

The Detroit Tigers are one of several teams across professional baseball that have fallen well short of expectations this season. As a result, Jim Leyland is one of several managers with whom fans are frustrated. After adding Prince Fielder to an already solid roster, the Tigers were expected to cruise through the AL Central. Fortunately for them, they are only a game out of first...

Tigers OF Raburn goes to DL with quad strain

The Detroit Tigers placed outfielder Ryan Raburn on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained right quadriceps. Raburn had only played in three games since missing over a month with a right thumb problem. Tigers manager Jim Leyland had said repeatedly throughout Detroit's series with the Chicago White Sox that Raburn was being held out of the lineup because he looked...

Akron Aeros Storm Back to Win Eastern League Championship

On the verge of elimination, a Cleveland-based team found a way to win a league title. Sounds like a strange dream that could never happen, eh? Well, that’s exactly what occurred this week in the Double-A Eastern League for the Akron Aeros. Trailing 0-2 in the Division Series, the Aeros rallied to win three straight home games over the rival Bowie Baysox. Akron then jumped out...

Huff replaces Gomez in Indians' rotation

The Cleveland Indians snapped their five-game losing streak Thursday night with a 5-4 win over the Texas Rangers. The bigger news for Cleveland came before the game, when manager Manny Acta announced a change in the rotation. Acta said left-hander David Huff would replace right-hander Jeanmar Gomez in the starting staff, with Gomez being sent to the bullpen. The move wasn't...

Series Preview: Tigers at Indians 9/14-16

Going into a three game series with Detroit, the Indians guarantee they will only be losing to teams from the Central Division for the rest of the year. Since the Indians are out of it and I hate the idea of a team trying for a high draft pick, I like to set personal goals for Indians just to make the season a little more interesting. A few of these I have already stated, like Masterson...

Anibal Sanchez took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 5-3 Saturday despite losing a run on an appeal play. Carlos Santana ruined Sanchez's no-hit bid with a two-out triple in the seventh, but Cleveland was officially eliminated from the playoffs after falling to 16-45 since the All-Star break. Starter Justin Masterson (11-14...

Game 2012.143: Tigers at White Sox

75-67, 2nd place, 1 game behind CWS. Scherzer was spectacular again, and with his team leading 16th win, he’s got an outside shot at 20 wins this year. “So that gets us to tonight. Regular season games don’t get any better. Division rival. Ace v. Young Phenom. Win and we’re tied for first. My plan is progressing as planned, and I fully expect JV to bring it tonight.”...

Cleveland's bats stifled by Verlander

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Justin Verlander pitched seven shutout innings and made sure Detroit stayed in step with first-place Chicago in the AL Central, leading the Tigers to a 4-0 win over the downward spiraling Cleveland Indians on Friday night. Coming through the way he almost always does, Verlander (14-8) allowed six hits. He escaped jams in the fifth and sixth innings with help from...
