First off, let me just state this post could be jumping the gun.  Hell, I might be winning the 10K marathon because I started the week before everyone else did (which would explain why I had time for so much beer as I went).  I know that, I own that.  Now that we’ve clarified I’m trying to show the skill of clairvoyance, let’s review.  Chipper Jones has already announced he’ll retire after the end of the 2012 season and he just went on the DL to start the year due to…well whatever is ailing Chipper.  Seriously, the dude hurt himself putting on a sock at one point in his career.  A SOCK for all those who can only read capital letters.  Though they could’ve put Martin Prado at 3rd to temporarily hold the spot, the Braves trade for a seldom used free swinger from Cincinatti named Juan Francisco.  So the guy who should get the majority of starts at 3rd if and when Glass Chipper gets injured – which happens every other day – is currently less than 1% owned in yahoo, ESPN, and Fleaflicker

Fredi Gonzalez’s Decision-Making Is Not Helping The Braves

The Atlanta Braves have followed up their 2011 collapse with an 0-4 start to the 2012 season. The Braves have simply been terrible in 2012. Their .229 wOBA is 29th in the majors, they rank 29th in BABIP against, and they are tied for 29th in run differential. Not all of this can be blamed on the manager and it is only 4 games, but Gonzalez is in line for criticism for his bullpen...

The 2012 Braves, endless optimism, and Fredi Gonzalez

Two games into the season, and the Braves are 0-2. Most fans, casual and die hard alike, are going to point at the fact that we're still in the first week of April and that there are still 160 games to get the ship corrected and for the Braves to win 90 games and make the playoffs. I'm not so sure about that anymore, and it has nothing to do with the disappointing on-field...

Lack of offense concerning as Mets sweep Braves

Theoretically, the Atlanta Braves’ 2012 season could’ve gotten off to a worse start. After all, no one was injured, right? That being said, a swift kick below the belt would’ve been less painful than being swept by the Mets on Opening Weekend. After blowing a 10 1/2-game wild card lead to the St. Louis Cardinals in September, the Braves began the new year with the same inept...

Jones lifts Braves past Astros

Chipper Jones came off the disabled list and began his final season in the majors with a single and a two-run home run to help the Atlanta Braves get their first win of the season, 6-4 over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night. The nearly 40-year-old Jones didn't look a bit rusty in his return after missing Atlanta's first four games after surgery on March 26 to repair a...

No hard feels for Bourn in return to Houston

Several months after getting traded, Michael Bourn is just fine with being an ex-Astro. No hard feelings, no regrets. Beyond the fact that Bourn understands that trades are part of the game, he is now the lead-off hitter and starting centerfielder for a team expected to compete for a playoff spot. "I had no problem with (the trade)," said Bourn Monday during his first...

Jones returns with homer, Braves beat Astros

Chipper Jones Makes Return With A Blast

Chipper Jones was activated for tonight’s game as the Atlanta Braves visited the Houston Astros. The soon-to-be hall of famer wasted no time getting back into the swing of things going 2-4, with a single in his first at bat and blasting a home run in the third inning. This is definitely a good sign

Chipper Jones activated

HOUSTON (AP) -- Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones has been activated from the disabled list and is in the lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Houston Astros. Jones, who turns 40 later this month, opened the season on the DL following surgery March 26 to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. The switch-hitter, who plans to retire at the end of this season...

Pre-Game: New York Mets (2-0) vs. Atlanta Braves (0-2)

The Mets look for the three game season opening sweep against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon at 1:1o p.m. Yesterday the Mets defeated the Braves by the score of 4-2 as Lucas Duda hit a pair of solo home runs and David Wright went 3-for-5 at the dish, meanwhile on the mound R.A. Dickey pitched six innings allowing just a two run home run to Martin Prado. Today the Mets...

NL East Snapshot

Yep, that's right.  After a three game sweep of the Atlanta Braves the Mets find themselves atop the National League East with a one game lead over the Washington Nations, who come to Citi Field tonight to open a three game series.  Its early, but enjoy it fellow Mets fans!
