Great game, Absolutely great game. And I HATE All Star festivities. I hate Exhibition games. Especially one that ended in a tie a few years ago. With that said. Tonight's game was incredible. I was one of the many who thought that the whole "This Time it Counts" A-S Game thing was completely stupid and just a TV Ad ploy. That also may have happened to coincide with the fact that the Cubs didn't have anything "on the table" in the ASG. And as I'm positive you all know, I am a Huge Cubs Fan. So I watched tonight's game [that ended 3 minutes ago] and actually really, really....

  • Dan Uggla Sucks, he blew the game for the NL. 3 Strike outs and 3 errors. Did you do anything worth while? I hope you enjoy your AL All Star Trophy.
  • I felt bad for him. THAT was embarrassing. I was embarrassed for him. How do you commit 3 errors!!?!?! And they were all from his second base position... Pfwwff!!
  • That game killed me. We needed an NL win. We can't lose at home, generally, and can't win on the road, generally. And he sets an NL record. Something needs to change with the All Star rules. The first few innnings managers are trying to get everyone in the game and they wind up screwing themselves in extra innings depending an the Ugglas of the world.
  • An excerpt from Mr. Uggla's freshly updated Wiki page (I know, reliable right?)

"Uggla also committed two consecutive errors on playable balls in the 10th inning that appeared to end the National League's hopes of victory, but the errors did not result in a run. He committed a third error in the bottom of the 13th, earning him the record for most errors in an All Star Game. In his three at bats, he struck out twice and hit into a double play. He vomited in the dugout during the 15th inning after striking out again."

If the vomiting part is true, I really feel bad for the guy. He's out there trying his hardest and he just can't seem to do anything right. He knows he let his team down, that's got to be one awful feeling.
  • The only thing that gives me any satisfaction from Dan Uggla's humiliation is the fact that he is a former Tennessee Vol. Otherwise, I hope he has an MVP season for the rest of the year. I really feel bad for him.

Manny skips 'Media Day;' David Ortiz takes BP

Yesterday at Yankee Stadium was the annual 'All-Star Media Day.' Once again Manny Ramirez didn't feel like showing up to answer questions. This was nothing new as he hasn't popped in for 'Media Day' since 2004 and probably will never come again unless he's in a really good mood. Hell, I'm glad he's actually participating in the game this year,...

Red Sox owner upset with Manny

Boston Red Sox owner John Henry is a little peeved about comments made by outfielder Manny Ramirez during All-Star Game weekend. Ramirez is upset that Red Sox management has been unclear about his future with the team.

The American League has Home Field Advantage.

The pre-game was emotional, the game itself was long and strenuous, but when it was all set and done, the American League came out on top with a sacrifice fly by Michael Young that plated Home Run derby "Winner" Justin Morneau. The 15 inning, 4 hour and 50 minute affair almost led to another embarrasment. Both squads were running out of pitchers and it almost came to...

Drew helps Sox secure HFA again

AL 4, NL 3 (15) WP: Kazmir LP: Lidge SV: None HRs: AL-Drew; NL-Holliday Summary: It was the longest All Star game, time-wise, and tied for the longest in innings, but in the end neither the length nor late hour could prevent the American League from winning its 11th straight Mid Summer Classic, as Michael Young hit a sac [...]

Dustin Pedroia: Hitting Machine

Chicks may dig the long ball, but I love me some Dustin Pedroia.

Freddy Lynn 1983: All Star

Hey now you're an All Star get your game on, go play. Hey now you're a Rock Star get the show on, get paid. -Smashmouth Public Service Announcement: OK, here we go! It's here. The All Star Game is here. Hooray! Hooray All Star Game! I love it. Always have. Always will. I love it when the players line up and down the basepaths. I loved it when Bo Knows Baseball and...

Yankee Stadium goes bipolar

Considering how much money you had to pay to attend last night's All-Star Game in the Bronx, I would have expected the stands to be filled with educated, savvy Yankee fans, not bipolar mental patients. We saw a stadium filled with fans rooting for the American League, but not for any Red Sox players, even [...]

I can't help it. The All-Star Game makes me think of him.

10 HOMERS OF THE ALL-STAR BREAK

Major League Baseball may not be the most exciting of professional sports, but it celebrates better than any other. No lame dunk contests, no potential career threatening scrimmages (ask former Patriot RB, Robert Edwards, how he feels about beach football) and no skills competitions consisting of three Russians, whose names you can't pronounce. Just long balls, Hall of Famers...

Chase Utley Tells New Yorkers **** You for Booing Him at Home Run Derby

Classic moment at the Home Run Derby introductions tonight. Chase Utley was the second player introduced by Chris Berman of ESPN, following Dan Uggla. I couldn't really hear the crowd noise too clearly, but they must have been booing because it produced a pretty clear response from Utley. Let's go to the [...]

Best and Worst of MLB All-Star Game

Who were the winners and losers of the All-Star Game that almost never ended? JD Drew was the MVP, but Tejada and others deserve some credit. How about Dan Uggla's new record?

NL back-ups lose to AL back-ups

I missed the first 6 innings, but saw the NL had a lead and thought I might watch the rest just in case they managed to hold onto the lead.  History would not be made tonight as the far superior American League beat the National League in a 15-inning snooze-fest.  What essentially happened was this:  after about 4 innings the best players on each team took a seat on the...
