Toronto Blue Jays' closer BJ Ryan had the infamous Tommy John's surgery on Thursday. Naturally he will miss the rest of the season, but should make it back for Spring Training.

I must say, I would never fancy Vernon Wells as the type of character who would pull off my favorite moment of the still somewhat young baseball season. But, there he was last Wednesday, pwning some hecklers in the stands. As the fine folks at Home Run Derby (via the Toronto Sun) have been all over recently, here's how it all went down.

Well, kinda sorta. I figure with the Blue Jays in the middle of a seven-game slide, their bazillion-dollar closer on the shelf and their G.M. living in a house of lies, they could use a little uplift mojo.
