TEAMS: Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals
Boston's bullpen will be thanking Jon Lester.
The crafty lefty pitched eight shutout innings allowing just four hits, two walks and eight strikeouts giving the pen a break.
Only Jonathan Papelbon was used in the ninth completing his 23rd save of the season.
Dustin Pedroia drove in Boston's lone run with a wall-ball double to deep left field.
Star of the Game - Lester
Two incredibly positive things from this outing. One being that Lester has got it going. Two being that the bullpen caught a break in last night's win.
Next Game - 7/11 vs. Kansas City Royals - Gil Meche/John Smoltz
Smoltz will treat the Fenway Faithful to a better start this time around.
