RHP Matt Belisle today had season-ending surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee...he
begins rehab in Cincinnati tomorrow...Belisle began the season on the Reds' disabled list with a sore right forearm
and then went 1-4, 7.28 in 6 starts before he was optioned to Louisville on 5/29...in 1 start and 25 relief apps for the
Bats he went 5-1, 4.26 and converted all 4 save opps (38ip, 43h, 11bb, 27k).
Just a bad ending to a bad year for Belisle.

Johan Santana threw a three-hit shutout at Pittsburgh, while striking out seven batters without issuing a walk. The only other NL pitcher to throw a shutout this season with no more than three hits allowed, no walks and at least seven strikeouts was Tim Hudson against the Reds on May 2 in Atlanta. Santana is only the second NL pitcher in the last four seasons (2005-2008) to do that...
