Sometimes you run across an article that is so ludicrous that it makes your head spin. This was one of them.Sometimes you run across an article that you can tell will be terrible just from the headline. This was one of them. As soon as I saw this headline, I knew I was in trouble:"Zambrano May Be the Most Overpaid Player in the Game "Oh, boy. Here we go. This guy has obviously never heard of Barry Zito or Vernon Wells:The facts don't lie. The Cubs are paying for top flight performance from apitcher who has the skills to be a big winner. However, Zambrano's performance does not warrant such a big contract and his 18 million dollar annual salary is oneof the deals that is limiting financial flexibility for the front office. Talk to the scouts that attend every game the Cubs play and they all bemoan his incredible physical talents and lack of productivity for a guy whose reputation is that of a superstar.Zambrano has won all of 7 games this season. That's it. He h...

I don't know about most over rated as far as pay. But definitely the most under rated as far as jerks go. He acts like a five year old throwing a temper tantrum when something doesn't go his way. He is absolutely one of the most unprofessional morons in the game.

What a pointless article. And yes, I realize how it is ironic that I am making a comment.

They are all overpaid.

A Cardinals, Brewers And Astros Fan Would Like Zambrano On Their Team
BTF links to Kaplan’s garbage that we discussed throughout the day and night yesterday. There are always some interesting comments on BTF that make every thread worth reading. Here’s something from cardsfanboy:
just to add fuel, Zambrano has a 128 era+ for his career, that is ninth among active pitchers. He has a 131 this season so it’s not like he is using prior...
Piniella: Zambrano's back injury not due to negligence
Despite recurring back problems, Carlos Zambrano apparently felt well enough after his abbreviated start Aug. 1 against the Florida Marlins that he didn't seek treatment from the training staff in the days before his scheduled start Friday. Manager Lou Piniella on Tuesday disputed reports that Zambrano hadn't cared for his ailing back, saying he was doing his exercise regimen...
Defending the Big Moose
You may have heard recently about Dave Kaplan's attack on Carlos Zambrano, calling him a "piece of garbage" and the most over-paid player in baseball. He's not an ace, Kaplan tells us; he's only averaged 14 wins a year, he hasn't been healthy, the Cubs need to get rid of him.
First of all, this is clearly a work. Kaplan does not have strong feelings about...
N Stands For Nonsense At ChicagoNow
Matt Olsen of ChicagoNOW blog Top Ten Chicago Sports (how clever) lists his Top 10 "injury-prone players in Chicago."
He runs through the usual suspects, including Milton Bradley at No. 8 (and declares him a "bust" even though he has a .400 OBP at this point). More interestingly, he has Carlos Zambrano at No. 5:
What's even more disturbing about Big Z and...
CUBS IN BRIEF: Zambrano expected to return vs. Dodgers
Carlos Zambrano's recurrent issues with that bulging disk in recent years apparently is more problematic than the pitcher has let on -- so severe at times that he requires an annual epidural.
Odds & Ends: Zambrano, Royals, Phils
Game time? It's time for some more links, me thinks:
Anthony Castrovince at MLB.com pays tribute to Hall-of-Fame reporter Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News, who will soon be out of a job.
Dick Kaegel at MLB.com says that the Royals are still negotiating with their top picks, despite reports they had come to terms with their second- and fourth-round selections.

Game and Series Recap: Cubs 5, Rockies 11 (1-3) -- Moving on!
(Recap image pending)
The Cubs did not look very good this weekend.
A lot of that had to do with injuries. Carlos Zambrano was unable to take the mound for his scheduled start; perhaps more detrimental was the fact that he was unable to inform the team of that fact until moments before the first pitch was scheduled.
Tom Gorzelanny was hit in the foot with a comebacker that ended...

Chicago Cubs Offense Needs to Stay Hot
The Cubs need to stay hot if they want to stay in this close NL Central division race.
Carlos Zambrano is the most recent victim of the DL for the Cubs. These things have happened a lot to the Cubs this season, but they have battled to stay close to the top of the NL Central. Aramis Ramirez has also been hurt recently. This time it’s his left shoulder. It is not, however, supposed...
