Welcome To Nationals Park!
They're playing the season opener right now, and the Nats hold a 2-1 lead over the Bravos headed into the top of the 8th. Odalis Perez (why does John Miller insist upon saying Perez like he does? Pear-ez) pitched 5 innings of one run ball! Holy crap, now there's a shocker.
First game in the Nats new digs...... almost. The editorial staff at The Legend went to the preseason...
Chad Cordero injury update
Semi-good news for all you Chad Cordero fantasy owners, the Washington Nationals closer won't be going on the Disabled List, yet. The reason for him not entering the game last night was due to shoulder tendinitis. Cordero actually received a cortisone shot yesterday and didn't enter the game because his shoulder was still feeling strange. The team has shut him down for
Nationals Park - Opening Night Review
The Nats opened their new park last night, and ECB's own Jeremy was in attendance. Even though he left before the spectacular ending, he gives his review of the new park and the Nationals experience.
It's Opening Day!
After Opening Night's thrilling victory by the Nationals, it's great to see a full slate of games today, including the Phillies taking on those same Nationals this afternoon in their home opener. Brett Myers will take the mound as the Phillies look to defend their National League East crown. Matt Chico will pitch for the Nationals, with first pitch coming at 3:05. The Phillies aren...

Opening Day Suckfest 2008
The stadium was packed with the high hopes of fans and brimming with pride as the defending NL East champs took the field. Things started off well, a 1-2-3 top of the 1st by Myers, a 2-nothing lead heading into the 5th, then everything turned to crap...

Braves Fall To Nats on Walk Off
The Nationals opened their new stadium in dramatic fashion with Ryan Zimmerman hitting a one run shot in the bottom of the ninth. The Braves backed Tim Hudson up much the same way they did all last season - with no run support save Chipper Jones' solo home run.
Nats' Opener: Best. Night. Of. 2008.
From the front page of today's Washington Post:No grass was ever greener than the Kentucky blue that spread out across the field at dazzling new Nationals Park last night. No popcorn ever smelled so delicious. No beer ever tasted so refreshing, no hot dog so juicy. The senses were overloaded and overwhelmed on an Opening Night unlike any ever witnessed in these parts -- in a...
Thoughts on Nats walk-off opener
What a first game in a new ballpark, a walk-off homerun, following a blown save to avoid extra innings. WOW. I'm going to give you my thoughts on tonight's opener, the Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals. Being that I did play-by-play for the game tonight at work, I was able to keep a detailed list of FIRSTS for Nationals Park, so I'll also post those for you.
Nationals Park Opens with a Bang!
Nationals Park is the new home of the Washington Nationals of the NL East.
Although the Braves tied the game at 2 in the top of the 9th on a Paul Lo Duca (C) passed ball, young Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman launched a walk off HR to center with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th!
It could be a long season: Phillies bullpen shelled in Opener
Boy, the Phillies really know how to suck the excitement out of Opening Day. The Phillies Achilles heel, their pitching, reared its ugly head today as the Phils lost to the Nationals 11-6.
This was not the start the Phillies were hoping for. The offense did its part, but the pitching looked like it did all spring: pathetic.

Nats score on a Flash
"One thing appears to be certain: The Nationals are not going to have a stagnant offense," MLB.com notes after Monday's game. After blowing a 6-2 lead in the middle innings, the Nats rallied in the ninth, scoring five runs off Tom Gordon (whose ERA, one game into the season, is 135.00). "It's good to score a lot of runs in one inning and show people that we can hit -- and that...

Rauch maybe shakey, but he is consistently one of the highest ranked Holds guys in the league and for any team. those are generally the guys who get first crack at closing.
p.s. Just picked up KC closer Joakim Soria on waivers. Safer than Rauch! (wink)
