This should have been one of Conor Jackson's best years. He had plate discipline, moderate power and was entering his age 27 season. Now, after an extended bout with valley fever, Jackson's value has tumbled and he doesn't have a guaranteed job next season. He told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic that his disappointing season has created uncertainty about the team's offseason plans. If the D'Backs offer Jackson a contract, they can't offer him less than $2.4MM under baseball's arbitration rules because he makes $3.1MM this year. Last offseason, when Jackson was coming off three straight years with an OPS over .800, the club had an easy call. But Jackson has hit poorly since then, so the team could decide to non-tender him.

Deja Vu for the Diamondbacks?

While watching the Arizona Diamondbacks’ bullpen give up another 8th inning home run last night, there was a certain unmistakable song stuck in my head. It was “Deja Vu”, Dionne Warwick’s sultry 1979 single that reached number 15 on the pop charts. Why would this seemingly forgettable song pop into my head thrity [...]

Saturday Lineups: Young back from Reno, in lineup tonight

Chris Young, who accidentally became a symbol of a disappointing year for the Arizona Diamondbacks, has been called up by the team, and will be in tonight’s starting lineup as the D-Backs continue their three game series against the Houston Astros at Chase Field. Young, who is batting just .194 with 7 homers and 28 runs [...]

D-Backs leave little doubt in series finale

Rookie Brandon Allen hit his big league home run and drove in four runs and Yusmeiro Petit and three relievers combined on a 5-hit shutout as the Arizona Diamondbacks ended a painful road trip with a convincing 11-0 win over the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park on Thursday. The Diamondbacks jumped on San Francisco starter [...]

Thursday Lineups: Disastrous road trip ends tonight for D-Backs

Rewind to August 15th if you will. The Arizona Diamondbacks had just rallied in the 9th inning with back-to-back solo home runs by Mark Reynolds and Miguel Montero to force extra innings against the first place Los Angeles Dodgers. Gerardo Parra then won the game in the 10th inning with an rbi single [...]

Dbacks Return Home After 2-8 Road Trip

The road was not too kind to the Arizona Diamondbacks the past 10 days, thanks to the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, and San Francisco Giants.  The only real complete game from both ends of things was last night in San Francisco, where the Dbacks won 11-0, maybe the best all-around game the Dbacks [...]

Twins bolster bullpen, net D'backs' righty Rauch

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins have acquired right-hander Jon Rauch from the Arizona Diamondbacks to fill another hole in their bullpen.

Understanding Upton: Who's Better, B.J. or Justin?

So far this season, Justin Upton has outplayed his brother B.J by leaps and bounds. Why then, you might wonder, even ask a question whose answer seems so obvious? It may not be as simple as you might think. B.J has struggled to hit .240 this season while Justin has hit over .300 and blasted 20 HR, but this could be a career year for Justin and an off-year for B.J. You simply canno...

Twins acquire RHP Rauch from Diamondbacks

The Minnesota Twins have acquired right-hander Jon Rauch from the Arizona Diamondbacks to fill another hole in their bullpen.

Reynolds' return sparks Arizona past San Francisco

Mark Reynolds homered and drove in two runs in his return to Arizona's lineup, Yusmeiro Petit snapped a personal three-game skid and the Diamondbacks ended a disappointing road trip with an 11-0 win over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday night.

Houston Astros (62-65) at Arizona Diamondbacks (56-72), 9:40 p.m.

After a frustrating four-city road trip that saw the team win just twice in 10 games, the Arizona Diamondbacks return home tonight to take on the Houston Astros in the opener of a three-game set at Chase Field.
