Cubs Hub:
With the first day of the draft behind us, lets look into the five players that the Cubs drafted today. Tim Wilken, the Cubs' Scouting Director, didn't pull any suprises with the third overall pick by selecting Cypress (CA) High Schooler Josh Vitters. There was some late night Wednesday worry that the Royals would take Vitters with the second slot, forcing the Cubs to go with a backup plan. Apparently that plan was Norwell (IN) High's righty Jarrod Parker, whom the D-backs took #9 overall. Fortunately KC who really wanted Porcello but not his Boras' pricetag, took another Boras' client in Chatsworth (CA) High Schooler 3B Moustakas leaving Vitters for us.
After taking the most advanced High School bat in Vitters, Wilken rattled off four college bats with the supplemental first rounder, third rounder, fourth rounder, and fifth rounder. We lost our second rounder to Washington for the signing of Alfonso Soriano. For more information on the players the Cubs drafted?.
