The body of a 22-year-old man was found Thursday morning on Braves’ third baseman Chipper Jones’ ranch in Texas.
From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
“He was in a part of the ranch we don’t go to on a daily basis,” Jones’ father, Larry Jones Sr. said Thursday evening from Double Dime Ranch in Carrizo Springs, Texas.

AJC : Dead Body At Chipper’s Ranch
Well, there’s bad news and there’s worse news. For starters, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Alexis Stevens reports the corpse of a 22-year old man was found yesterday on the premises of Chipper Jones’ family ranch in Carrizo Springs, TX. And it’s pretty frustrating there appears to be no way in which Chipper can be found liable.
“He [...]
You Wouldn't Like Chipper Jones When He's All Fuzzed Up
Chipper Jones and Mets fans have always had a love-hate relationship. Chipper loved to visit old Shea Stadium and smack some taters (so much that he named his kid Shea yadda yadda yadd), and Mets fans hated when Chip and the Braves smacked their rear ends in the division race every year.
Well now, the Mets play in CitiField and Shea Stadium is nothing more than blacktop and bad...
Interesting feature on Scott Spiezio's comeback
Scott Spiezio has been the punchline of a lot of jokes, many of them told by me. But I wish him well in his current endeavor, which is to overcome the drug and alcohol problems that derailed his career. The Los Angeles Times today ran a nice story detailing Spiezio's comeback, at age 36 with the Orange County Flyers of the independent Golden Baseball League.
Body found on Chipper Jones' ranch
Third baseman says man found on his southwest Texas ranch is believed to be an illegal immigrant.
Ex-Angels hero Scott Spiezio hasn't taken a flyer on baseball
As the OC Flyers give him one last chance at the game, Spiezio knows his alcohol and drug problems have to stay in the past.

Bats sleepy, Vazquez runs out of gas
With the way Anibal Sanchez was pitching last night, it looked like it could be one of them nights for much of the game. The Braves finally recorded a hit in the sixth off the bat of Javier Vazquez.
On the mound Vazquez had allowed one run entering the seventh inning in Atlanta on Friday night, [...]
Wagner returns, Johan loses, anyone care?
Another day, another Mets loss. Kenshin Kawakami outdueled Johan last night for a 3-2 Braves victory. The Braves took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth on a Brian McCann homer and that is all the run support the Atlanta staff would need. Frankly, it’s probably too much to ask of a Pagan-Castillo-Murphy-Francoeur-Sullivan-Tatis-Schneider-Hernandez-Johan [...]

Braves injuries in outfield mounting
Already short-handed for their important weekend series against the Florida Marlins, the Braves sustained another injury when Ryan Church was sidelined Saturday with back spasms. . . .
Was Adam LaRoche the Best Offensive Acquisition at the Deadline?
Adam LaRoche has been one of the biggest cogs in a revitalized Braves' line-up since coming over from Boston in a deadline deal for Casey Kotchman.
However, with names like Matt Holliday and Victor Martinez also being moved, this deal has, in a way, gone under the radar.
Let's start things off by looking at the stats of each player since joining their current team:

Game 121 Recap: Braves 3, Mets 2
More photos » by Frank Franklin II - AP Browse more photos » We pulled off a pretty big win. In the process, we made Johan Santana look like a mere average pitcher, getting 3 runs on 9 hits off of him while only striking out twice. The Braves broadcasters nicknamed Kenshin Kawakami "The Dragon Slayer," for his ability to go up against the best pitchers in...
