The Sports Agent Blog:
You knew Scott Boras wouldn't stay down for long. His declining media status was killing his insides. So what does he do? Boras Corp signs one of the hottest young players in the MLB, who just helped his team win a World Series Championship. At the end of last week, Jacoby Ellsbury dropped agent Joe Urbon for Scott Boras. Boras already had Jacoby posted up at a Boston mall selling autographs for $125 to $150 a pop by Sunday [Sign of the times for Ellsbury]. But why did Ellsbury switch now, and why away from Joe Urbon?
For one, many people call Boras the Drew Rosenhaus of baseball. This does not in any way reflect my personal opinion, but many say that both agents actively approach represented clients in an effort to "steal" them away from the competition. If this is the case, Boras does offer a pretty package to a potential client, which may be enough to woo him away from his current advisor. But I do not think this is the underlying reason.
Joe Urbon has made a...

Happy Birthday Johan!
Today, Johan Santana is turning 30 years old! The ace that was traded to the Mets last off-season from the Minnesota Twins, is loving New York! After coming off a minor injury, if you can even call it minor, Johan is looking for another successful season with the Mets. In the first year at Citi Field, hopefully Santana can lead the Mets to their first World Series title in 23 years.
The Johan Santana Saga
After their devastating collapse in 2007, it was apparent that the Mets needed to do something big to get an ace pitcher to lead the rotation. It soon became known that one of the best, Minnesota's Johan Santana, would be on the trading block because he was entering the final year of his contract and...

In a post to Always Amazin, Matt Artus writes what most fans are likely feeling today, which is, "Good win, now do it again."
The Brooklyn Met Fan recalls a moment, which was captured during last night's broadcast on SNY, in which Johan Santana walked across the dugout to give Mike Pelfrey a hug.

SI's Great Article on Johan - From May 2005
It's Sunday, albeit Super Bowl Sunday, but that doesn't stop baseball stories from happening or being reported about. However, as it's a slow news day in the hardball world, I came across, over at SI.com, (click the link) a piece on Johan Santana, by S.L. Price, from the May 23, 2005 issue of Sports ...
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Mets...
Buck up, all you lowly Mets fans lurking out there, tonight's the first night of the off-season. And you know what that means: it's time to fire up the old hot stove. Last year you guys found the marble in the oatmeal and got to drink from the fire hose (ie, kept Johan Santana away from the Yankees and Red Sox), and next year you'll get your new stadium. So thinks aren't all that...
I Have a Mancrush on Howie Kendrick
It all started innocently enough. A few years ago, I started hearing about this kid in the Angels minor league system. I was told he was pretty handy with the woo, er...bat. A future major league batting champ, the experts told me. Teams started putting in calls to the Angels asking about Kendrick. They were waving Johan Santana, Miguel Cabrera, even pictures of GM Bill Stoneman...

New York Met Fans
Ok Met fans. It has been a tough couple of years. Talent-filled teams each of the last two years combined with a high payroll and of course high expectations. I can boldly, but not gladly, say the Mets' last two years were probably the most heartbreaking of any professional sports team in the last two years. Granted, I said heartbreaking, not worst. I consider a heartbreaking year...
I'm more concerned with Maine then the 5th...
It's a bit of a double standard, aside from Johan Santana who hasn't taken the mound as of yet the Mets starters who are guaranteed spots have been less then impressive. But all we've heard about is the fifth starters spot and how bad the candidates have been; Livan's been ok, Freddy awful, ...
You've Got to Change Your Evil Ways
All of the brouhaha over Johan Santana's tight triceps tendon brings a few varied thoughts to my mind.
While I join most Mets fans in gratitude that this doesn't seem to be a serious problem, I find myself in agreement with The Eddie Kranepool Society's Steve Keane:
I can understand not wanting to spend over 45 mil for Manny Ramirez but you mean to tell me that with...
