However, Davis is your classic middle of the rotation starter, who gets the job done and is about as consistent as they come. While Davis might not be the first choice for many teams, he's exactly the kind of pitcher that so many teams need. How will Davis' limitations and consistency play out on the open market? Mark Reynolds: Numbers do Lie.

As Mark Reynolds continues to break his own Major League Baseball single season strikeout record each night, many people write opinions defending him or making excuses for his failure to make contact. It seems that the power numbers Reynolds has put up this year (43 HR, 100 RBI as of September 24)  have caused people [...]

Reynolds Whiffs Into History For second Straight Year

Another of the milestones we were tracking was passed on Tuesday night. But unlike Ichiro topping Wee Willie Keeler or Derek Jeter taking down Lou Gehrig, Mark Reynolds(notes) broke the record no ballplayer wants to break. And the Arizona third baseman broke it for the second year in a row, no less. With a fourth-inning strikeout against San Francisco's Madison Bumgarner(notes...

D-backs' Webb not willing to accept salary cut

Sporting News staff reports Diamondbacks righthander Brandon Webb told The Arizona Republic that he isn't interested in restructuring his $8.5 million team option for 2010. "If it comes down to that and they ask me to do something like that, I would have to -- just for myself -- see what else is out there and see if there's something better,"...

Odds & Ends: Webb, Chapman, White Sox, Brewers

Wednesday evening link session... ESPN.com's Buster Olney thinks Brandon Webb is right in not accepting a compromise deal from the Diamondbacks.  He lists multiple teams that would be willing to offer the former Cy Young Award winner a lucrative one-year contract, including the Dodgers, Angels, Cubs, White Sox, Yankees and Red Sox. Scott Merkin of MLB.com gathered...

Giants fall to D-Backs, lose ground in wild-card race

Miguel Montero had three hits and the Arizona Diamondbacks scored nine runs in the second and third innings to drive Matt Cain out of the game, dampening San Francisco's NL wild-card chances with a 10-8 victory Tuesday night.

Reynolds Rap

Tuesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants was a hallmark game for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Mark Reynolds. Looking at the box score you may not fully understand the significance of the season Reynolds has had...Read the full article on Bleacher Report...

Notes: D-Backs seeking veteran bullpen arm

The Diamondbacks will have at least one hole to fill in their starting rotation for 2010, maybe two depending on what they do with injured ace Brandon Webb.

Sandy Johnson Would be a Loss

The Mets “coffee klatch” has begun to break up. Adam Rubin reported earlier today the team dismissed Ramon Pena, the Mets official in charge with signing Latin American talent and minor league coordinator Luis Aguayo. There is speculation that more is to come. What I was not happy to hear is that VP Sandy Johnson [...]

Diamondbacks Seeking Veteran Reliever

The Diamondbacks could have two potential holes to fill in their rotation depending on what happens with Doug Davis and Brandon Webb after the season, but GM Josh Byrnes also wants to add a veteran reliever according to Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. "We've had our share of adversity this year, and in the bullpen it's not going to be a smooth ride for six...
