Chicago — The news hit one year ago today. On a day off in this city, it was announced that then-manager Ned Yost had been fired by the Milwaukee Brewers with 12 left in the season and replaced by third-base coach Dale Sveum, now the team's hitting coach. Everyone from Yost to the media to the players had the same reaction.

Braden Looper got the early run support he needed Wednesday night and made it through five innings to earn his career-high 13th victory.
