Josh Beckett didn't need the early run support. He didn't allow a hit until the seventh inning.
Beckett cruised to his sixth victory striking out nine but gave up a hit with two outs in the seventh to Curtis Granderson to lose the no-no.
It's not like Dennis Eckersley made it apparent that Beckett had the no-hitter going.

A.J. Burnett has been suspended by MLB for throwing over the head of Nelson Cruz. This suspension is complete and utter BS. I thought the same thing about Josh Beckett's suspension for throwing over the head of Bobby Abreu. Now if Burnett were ejected from the game that's one thing.
