What's it gonna cost to bring Kevin Youkilis back to the Red Sox in '08? According to Youk and his team, $3.7 million - almost nine times what his salary was in 2007. The Sox offered $2.525 million- a difference of about $1.2 million between the two offers.

On the last year of his contract Red Sox's catcher is getting older. He will turn 36 in April and will make 10 million dollars next year. The Sox's do not have any good prospects to replace him and if they dont resign Varitek the Sox's would leave the catching dutys on young Mark Wagner who batted .318 and 14 home runs, problem is that was in class a ball. In a short and sweet Q&A with the Globe's Nick Cafardo, Trot Nixon revealed that he's had his agents contact the Red Sox about coming back to the Fens again. Could be an interesting option if the Brad Wilkerson deal doesn't materialize.
