PLAYERS: Jason Giambi
TEAMS: New York Yankees

First admissions to USA Today, then yesterday's rumored trade to the Angels, now this...Jason Giambi must really love seeing his face on the back page for all the wrong reasons. For what it's worth, Jason did his best to shoot down yesterday's report of a possible trade to the Angels, however you can't help thinking that the move could be the best thing for everyone involved. Except for the Angels, of course, who would getting a juiced-up junkhead.

The Juice On Giambi's Contract

Last night Jason Giambi, wearing his new, custom-made orthotics, belted his 6th home-run in the Yankees 6-2 win over Boston. As he rounded the bases he looked healthy and it seemed more likely that he could help the Yankees get back into the AL East race. However, it depends on what you believe about his contract:

Bring Back George Steinbrenner

Excellent read about the Yankees and George Steinbrenner.

Jeter wants to be The Boss

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter told a radio station Tuesday that he would like to own a team someday. Derek Jeter as The Boss? What kind of owner would he be?

Giambi is a non-athlete

Giambi is torn apart in this article in the NY post by Joel Sherman. Calls him a non-athlete. "The Steinbrenner Yankees did not care about tomorrow. They gave Giambi seven years, a devilish deal that has brought no championships, but plenty of humiliation for player and team." Man I thought the Boston media was tough

Johnny Damon sparks Yankees

A day after Joel Sherman on WEEI radio was all over Johnny Damon, he writes a story about how he is back "He did concede, however, that pain from an injured right calf is robbing life from his ways and mien, though he reported his legs felt much improved yesterday" One win and everything is corrected, I think not.

The End of PavGirl

Well after much delay and seeing every single doctor on the face of the planet, yesterday it was made official that PavGirl, will be sent down to Bama to get himself some Tommy John surgery and effectively end his tenure as a New York Yankee. Effectively Pavano has locked in his career stats for the New York Yankees now and will at the conclusion of next year raked in $40 million...

Derek the Great

Jeter has surpassed Joe DiMaggio on the all-time yankee hit list. An accomplishment like that really puts a career in perspective. The guy could retire tomorrow and will already go down as one of the all-time greats. What will his career look like when all is said and done?

Outside of Yankeeland, Fans Rejoice At Pinstripes' Misfortune

Written by Jeff Louderback: "For years, the Yankees have represented what most people detest - arrogance, elitism and a sense of entitlement. Baseball fans did not dislike the Bombers because they won; however, they were repulsed at how the Yankees won." Continuing: "It is obvious that the Yankees have too many question marks in their rotation, and too weak of a...

Angels Thirsting for Jason Juice?

Acquiring Figgins and Molina would fill two huge holes on the Yankee bench. Miguel Cairo and Wil Nieves have given Joe Torre zero reason to pencil them in the lineup on anything more than an emergency-basis. Adding two serviceable bench players would allow the manager the luxury of resting his everyday players with more regularity. Trading Giambi would also open the DH spot for some...

Rookie Relief

As hard as it has been not to sound like a broken record on the subject of the Yankees starting rotation, along comes the latest New York rookie from the depths of their not-so depleted farm system. For the eleventh time this season, Joe Torre has penciled in a new starter into the Yankees scorecard. For the seventh time it was a rookie, and for the fifth it was a rookie making his...

YES network announcers putting more presssure on Torre

According to the article Steinbrenner uses this tatic often "YES broadcasters apparently have been given the green light to be more critical of Torre's in-game decisions, a tactic The Boss has used in the past when he was displeased with the manager"

Ready For Lift-Off?

Roger Clemens has gotten mixed-reviews in his two minor league tune-up starts, but it sounds as if the hurler may skip a start at AAA and head straight to the Majors - most likely when the Bombers visit Toronto.

A Night at Yankee Stadium

A night at Yankee Stadium for a Red Sox game is much closer to being in attendence of a riot than actually that of a baseball game. Here's a recap of my first Yanks Sox game evening.

Beantown Beware

The juggernaut that is the New York Yankees is firing on all cylinders. It may not have been a sweep but you can clearly see a new swagger in their step. Last night's game was great. Schilling got rocked, Pettitte pitched great and Mariano looked like the Mariano of old. I added seven new videos from Section 39. 117 games left, 10 against the front running Red Sox. What kind...
