Jeff Brantley hasn't been making many friends in the Reds clubhouse this year and it appears that players are fed up with him. So much so that the level headed Ken Griffey Jr gestured to him with a throat slash following a homerun on Saturday night. Here's the background and the video (:30 mark as he enters the dugout).... CINCINNATI ? For those who read Ken Griffey Jr.'s lips after his home run Saturday night and saw him make the throat-cutting gesture at home plate, the antics w...

I saw him gesture right before he walked into the dugout but how one can tell he was aiming that at Brantley (who was sitting where exactly) I can not tell. I hadn't even heard there was issues with Brantley anyway but then again, I don't pay attention to the Reds.

I was perched on the grassy knoll as the motorcade...er I mean Griffey strode by. Did this slash come from the Book Depository? I need to review this clip again because I saw nothing!

    This is hype.
  • I DID NOT SEE ANY OBSESNE GESTURE
    MIKE YOKERS.
  • I did see something as he enter the dugout on the FSN broadcast and it did hit me as to what he was doing....brantley just tells it like it is and the way my Reds are playing to should be pissed, but at their self not at Brantley
  • Griffey is one of the greatest of all time, but if he can't take criticism he needs to retire. No player is above criticism, I don't care if you hit a homerun every at bat your still subject to criticism. If he can't take criticism he should just hang it up.
  • Griffey Griffey Griffey! My God I am sick of hearing about this washed up man! Sense he came to Cincinnati he has been hurt or had a bad attitude! He is dragging down the team all he wants to do is talk about his home runs! I agree with Jeff Brantley I stand beside him. Griffey is not a well liked player on the Reds. I can't wait to see him go! You tell me what3 hole hitter bats 241! Goodness I am glad that he did it right meaning his 600 plus homers and not like Bonds, However that is not an excuse for bad play. He could be a leader to the young players and he could try but he don't. If he did the Reds may have picked up his option. think of the effect Griffey could make in the club house. But he is selfish and only cares about what he wants. Let go good bye and thank God he will be gone soon!

I think his back is turned to the camera when he does it. Nonetheless, how can one say he directed that to him? There's thousands of people there, LOL!

Other than bigredmachine, the posts are all dead solid on. Brantley is making a big deal out of nothing and is making himself look even more ridiculous (judging by his haircut, that's awfully hard to do) by acting indignant.

    Whatever.

This is nothing more than a skirt wearing sissy boy, who's cajones are deep inside his wife's purse, pulling the PC angle acting all offended over nothing; offended ONLY because people like him who can't think for themselves, have been indoctrinated into thinking like this.

    Sad but true.

This is a non-issue and like Jeff (not Brantley) said in the email, this mullet wearing douchebag will get the axe far sooner than Griffey will, if anything is done to Griffey at all, which I highly doubt.

    Cheers!!

Actually in my previous comment, I should have said other than bigredmachine, revampda(da?)big10 and AndyWest, the comments to this post are all dead solid on and judging by these three and their indignant whining of someone whom they don't know personally and have no vested interest in being offended, you would think they were on the website for "The View", and not a website dedicated to sports, because as far as I'm concerned, THERE'S NO WHINING IN SPORTS!!

I'm saying it again so there isn't any confusion on where I stand; Griffey did NOTHING wrong, even if he DID make the throat slashing motion. Big freaking deal!! Judging by Brantley's insipid whining, Brantley is acting like Griffey PHYSICALLY harmed him instead of the perceived "obsene" motion he thought to be directed at him. A motion, incidentally, WHICH IS NOT OBSCENE!!! Flipping the bird is considered obscene. Jeff Brantely's haircut, well, that IS obscene.

Bottom line is this; if Brantley is that thin skinned, he has far more serious and deep seeded issues to deal with than crying about a perceived "obscene" gesture being directed at him. Personally speaking, if it were me that Griffey supposedly directed the perceived "obscene" gesture at, I would laugh it off and sure as heck would embarrass myself further (did I mention Brantley's haircut?) by whining about it.

    Cheers!!
