Another Cubs Blog:
Now that the Cardinals season is unfortunately over we can take another look at how Mark DeRosa’s teams perform in the playoffs. DeRosa has been in the playoffs in 6 different seasons (2001-2003, 2007-2009). He’s played on some really good teams. He came up with the Braves and then was a part of the Cubs back to back division championships before ending up in St. Louis in 2009. The only series in which one of DeRosa’s teams advanced was in a series in 2001. He saw all of one plate appearance in that entire series.
Since then, DeRosa’s teams have won only 2 games in the playoffs and 1 of those came against the Cubs in 2003. He’s been a part of 11 consecutive playoff losses going back to 2003. Overall, Derosa’s teams are 3-19 when he plays. DeRosa played the entire game in only 10 of those 19 and the team record was 1-9. That 1 win came against the Cubs so we’re not even sure it should count.
What does this mean? Absolutely nothing! Seriously. Well, I guess it means that the teams he’s played on simply haven’t performed very well even though DeRosa has done his job. It also means people are dumbasses because if it were Ramirez, Soriano or Zambrano, the media and fans would be talking about these guys as if it’s their fault the team has performed the way it has.
Mark DeRosa’s teams have sucked ass in the playoffs and the dumbshits who think 10 or 12 games is a large sample, ignore it. Has Sullivan, Whittenmeyer or any of the other hacks written about how poorly DeRosa’s teams have performed in the playoffs? Does anybody doubt that they would be talking about it endlessly if it were Soriano, Ramirez or Zambrano.

ST. LOUIS — Unlike most men in his line of work, Tony La Russa also earned a law degree. It's helpful, theoretically, in making sound arguments with umpires.La Russa does share another, much more useful side discipline with other baseball managers: Psychology. He's Carl Jung good at it. Why You Don't Make Big Trades: Cardinals
I saw some fans who wanted to trade away Bumgarner, even Posey in an isolated case or two, just to make the playoffs this year. Many wanted to get Matt Holliday. Hopefully they can learn from what happened with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals traded away, basically, their Bumgarner or Posey (yes, we have two of them) in Brett Wallace (plus other players!) in order to get...
Could La Russa Leave St. Louis?
It seems like a strange concept, but both ESPN's Buster Olney and Kevin Kaduk from Yahoo Sports are asking if it's possible for longtime Cardinals skipper Tony La Russa to jump ship.
The Cards were bounced from the ALDS yesterday, swept at the hands of Joe Torre's Dodgers. While many people are focused on names like Matt Holliday, Albert Pujols, Mark DeRosa, and Joel Piniero...
Putting the 'die' in Yadier
I didn't think I had much of a rooting interest in the Dodgers-Cardinals NLDS until I noticed a fan at Busch Stadium in a MOLINA 4 All-Star jersey. I still didn't think I would glean a lot of satisfaction from this Division Series until Yadier Molina attempted to cross from second to third on a one-out ground ball clearly in front of him and was tagged out with ease.

Carpenter would go on 3 days' rest in Game 4
Chris Carpenter will start on three days' rest if the St. Louis Cardinals make it to Game 4 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. It's a tactic that's mostly been a failure during manager Tony La Russa's 14 seasons in St. Louis.

Vicente Padilla shut down Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals, putting the Los Angeles Dodgers back in the National League championship series with a 5-1 victory.
What's next for the Cardinals?
No series surprised me more in the first round than the Los Angeles Dodgers' dismantling of the St. Louis Cardinals in three games.
